Hello, I have finally plucked up the courage to post on here. After reading loads of postings and taking bundles of advice (and comfort) from the postings I thought it was time I should post Myself. I am a former head buried in the sand debtor and as we are expecting a baby later this year thought we really needed to face our severe debts head on. To be honest we didn't realise how much debt we were in and how much the debt had built up over the years. I am so ashamed it took becoming pregnant to deal with it, but am so glad that we decided to face up to things. We got in touch with Melanie's team a few months ago and am currently waiting for the preliminary proposal to be approved by Northern Rock before meeting with Melanie and setting up the creditors meeting. I have to say, although it seems to have taken so long (not helped by my particular bad health through my pregnancy), Melanie's team have been wonderful. Tina in particular who we spoke to right at the beginning is worth her weight in gold but everyone I have dealt with have been so great, I couldn't have asked for better and would recommend to anyone in need of IVA help. The waiting is by no means over for us and feels like it is just beginning, while we wait for NR's answer this is nothing short of painful. I know that the creditors meeting date will be even worse. I was just wondering if in view of the recent press releases NR are less likely to agree our proposal and how long on average from here we are likely to be waiting before this is agreed / denied.

Hi there and welcome formally to the forum!

I think that we are just waiting for one or two bits of information, and I can then put your proposals forward. It is great that you are finding the forum so useful, and do keep posting as others will gain much from reading your progress.
Regards, Melanie Giles, Insolvency Practitioner

Thanks Melanie, I will definately keep posting on the progress and hope and pray it will be good news. The creditors are really putting the pressure on and using all sorts of tactics to try and talk to us. It will be such a relief to have it all stop and we can finally look forward to the birth of the little footballer we are growing at the moment. Thanks once again for all your and your teams help.

Hi Mazzall,
We just had NR say yes and seems a lot of others are too so fingers crossed for you!
Don't worry - you have little one to think of soon and if there is one thing kids do it's put it all into perspective [:)]
You'll be ok - just a matter of sitting it out until it's sorted... if you feel yourself worrying then switch to worrying about upcoming night feeds instead! Now those are way scarier than IVA's ha ha ha!!! [:D][:D][:D] x

IVA approved Aug 2008 - 6 year term - last payment made 6 Oct 2014. CC received 14 Nov 2014.

Thanks everyone for all your support, this forum has really been a God send and helped us on our way to sorting out our problems. Baba is due in November and we don't know what we are having, leaving it as BIG surprise. Until we decided on an IVA I was stressing BIG time, now we are doing something about it and are closing in on the creditors date we do feel better (if not stressing about the outcome), it definately beats burying our head in the sand. We are so excited about the upcoming baby and looking forward to being woken by baba rather than the countless calls we have been having. Not had the best pregnancy and am sure that all the stress of this has not helped but am doing the best I can and taking time out from everything when I need to.

Hello Mazall and welcome from me as well.
Congrats on the babe x
Melanie always does her best so I am sure you will be ok. Keep posting and let us know how things are going, and if those creditors get too much come and have a rant we all like one occasionally.
