Poppy

It is not too late to include the two missing debts. Speak to your IP and tell them that you wish to see them included in order to represent an accurate position.

Hi Poppy

Melanie is right

You can't have an iva and still pay debts to anyone else...it don't make sense

Put all your bad eggs into the basket and watch them blossom into a debt free life

Hi Poppy
You should be ok with A+L as you have no debts wth them.
Any bank that you have debts with is likely to close your account as in Zoe,s case.

Hi Poppy

Just wanted to say you are not alone and we all know what its like to go to sleep (well sometimes anyway) and wake up with that doom feeling of debt. However its just a mistake that we have all made, living beyond our means whatever our circumstances are, we all make mistakes, we learn from them. Your parents will understand, my children will make mistakes when they are old enough and will learn from them the same as I have. I wouldnt like to think of them struggling with it all alone though and would like to think they could come to me for emotional support. I was scared to tell my family but I did and they have been brilliant. I really wish you the best of luck with everything.

Thank you everyone for your posts. It's really nice to know there are others in the same boat as me.

Melanie, I phoned my IP today to ask about the student loan and she said it can't be included as it is taken from source (I don't have any control over it as it is taken as tax and national insurance is). Is this correct?

Thank you.

Poppy

No - the student loan payments can be stopped once the IVA is in place, and I have several clients where this has happened. There is no preferential status for the student loans company under an IVA.

Yes - they generally reject all proposals, but if they are owed less than 25% of the overall debts, why should they continue to have preferential status over the other creditors.

Thanks Melanie.

I will ring them again tomorrow. I'm not sure why they are telling me something different, sometimes I think they can't wait to get me off the phone!
