Hi we are 14 months in to our IVA, my husband and I both have mobile phone contracts that we took out before the IVA, they will be eligible to renew/upgrade soon, there are much better/cheaper deals on the market now but can we shop around for new contracts, has anyone been able to get a new contract whilst on iva as I know they do a credit check?

you will struggle to get a new contract with somebody else.
T-Mobile are your best bet or if you have a virgin account(tv,broadband or landline)you can get one of there sim only or contract phone without too much bother.i got my wife a contract phone and I have an unlimited everything sim on a rolling 30 day contract for a fiver a month.now you cant in my opinion beat that.as your already a customer they don't credit check you in the same way as another provider would.
cc received 6th January 2014 now upwards and onwards

as already said, moving provider is very difficult.

I tried to move to 3 and they declined me, so I stayed with T-Mobile (Now EE)

In hindsight, moving would have been really silly as 3 don't get free wifi on the tube, but hey ho.

I was with Orange and my contract expired. I currently have my broadband with talktalk, who supplied me with a top of the range phone on a medium plan.

So far I haven;t had an issue with talktalk, as they use Vodafone's signal

T mobile from my personal experience and numerous success posts over the last 2 years on the forum indicate they are almost certain to say yes

i got an iphone5 whilst still awaiting my completion certificate, with iva still showing as unsettled on my credit file at all 3 CRAs in september last year

others have said 02 & 3 - but 3 refused me so i didnt want to risk 02 saying no also

hope this helps, Tmob are ok
Last payment made April 2012
Certificate received 1st Nov 2012

I have recently moved from Virgin, got declined by Tesco but accepted by Orange. It is probably easier and less stressful to stay with your current provider for all contracts/insurances that you want to pay monthly as they probably won't credit check you. We have decided to do this with our house/car insurance to avoid any hassle.

Hi

I spoke to one of my clients who is in an IVA yesterday and he was saying that if you upgrade with your existing supplier no credit check is done, if you look to move supplier a credit check will be undertaken and also if you use a third party and ahve some sort of buy out of your old contract offer again a credit check will be done even if it is same supplier

Hope this helps

Regards

Hi, went online and got a new phone contract for daughter with T mobil.

Payed £29.00 for her phone but had no problems.

Good luck

Baldy.

Never tried changing my mobile provider whilst in my IVA (although have changed my package without any problems) but did try to move my home phone package across to my current mobile provider, only for that to fall through as unsurprisingly I failed the credit check (didn't think they run one but they did).

I just upgraded my phone contract.

I initially tried switching to T-Mobile, but I failed the credit check (despite hearing previously that they are 'IVA-Friendly).

In the end, I popped into Carphone Warehouse, stuck with O2, and got an upgraded smart-phone.

As said previously, if you stick with your existing provider, you should be fine.
My opinions are just that: Based on my experience and being a self-employed IVA customer.

Glad you got your new phone (I love a new phone). I've always stuck with 02 and just upgraded.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I've always stayed with Vodafone and upgraded. Unfortunately I can't upgrade for another 18 months!

I got a dongle broadband contract with "3" 60 months (of 71) into my IVA. They said the credit check is very minimal. I know thats not a mobile phone but I thought I would mention this as bit of info for this subject.
IVA complete March 2014 after 6 years.

Blimey, its a weird old game this mobil phone lark.

You do wonder what they do check or if they check every one in ten?

Ive stayed with 02, because im happy with them and dont want to risk the old credit check.

And yet like i said in my other post applied online to T mobil and sail straight through.

I think you just have to try your luck.
