Just tell them what is happening, give them Melanie's details and politely hang up. Don't get involved in any slanging matches with them.

They will keep calling though.

If you decide to answer their calls and you're under no obligation to do so as I doubt it will have any bearing on the meeting result.

I answered all and had a script which I followed to the letter, I was never rude and never gave in to any pressure, the first couple were terrifying then after I had recited it so many times, I knew it off by heart even Melanie's address!

All the best you've chosen a great IP and I'm sure everything will be fine.

Iguignet good luck. We are also with Melanies team and Tina S was the first person I spoke to at the Company.

As Melanie says her Company will provide you with a letter template and all you have to do is copy it and fire it off to each creditor. Similar to Lesley I spoke to each of my creditors and kept them up to-date with the process. For the first calls at least you should find that all they want to know is a reason you cant pay them and the details of your IP. Some people dont speak to creditors at all so its a personal preference I suppose.

Anyway your in great hands with Tina....from my initial chat with her to a few weeks later when I got to speak to Melanie, there was very little changed from the initial conversation, therefore you can be assured Tina knows her onions.

You will worry - that's only natural.

You are with a good team though and of course you have us you can turn to as well.

Personally I wouldn't bother.

However, it's what you feel most comfortable with.

You're on the downhill stretch now and you have an excellent team behind you.

iguignet the below entry is from my own experience of MBNA in the early days of my proposal (I have copied it from my thread). Since initial contact I have not received any calls from them or the other creditors I spoke to, so quite fortunate I suppose. I have however been in recent contact with Barclays regarding my wifes debts.

"Just received correspondance from MBNA on behalf of my Virgin Credit Card stating they were aware of my seeking an IVA and wished to speak to me.

I telephoned the MBNA Insolvency Team and have to admit they were much more understanding and sympathetic to my situation then I expected would be the case. They also advised that in my current situation they would be more inclined to "support" my IVA application then to look at a DMP or other plan that they may be able to offer.

They also advised that it may be best for me to speak to ALL my creditors, explain the situation and see how they felt in regards to an IVA proposal, as although not cast in stone, it would give me a general idea on how the creditors would be voting.

All in all a very good conversation and all they expected is that I keep them up to speed with how my proposal is processing."

Whether you speak to them or not, or make any payments or not, it will not make any difference as to whether you are accepted.

Barclays were my worst nightmare and they didn't even bother to vote!

Please only do as you feel best, as Jan says it's irrelevant to final voting day whether you speak to them or make token payments.

All the best x

its been a while since my last post apologies all...
hope you all had a good xmas
last time i posted i had just had my first contact with mels team though tina who basically set out what an iva is and went through my total debt and expenditure etc etc...then i waited for a few weeks sending in my correspondence to mels team from my creditors until my case was being drawn up...creditors call after call which most of the calls are proactively sent by automatic credit dialling....which i tended to ignore...and still come... ispoke to my main creditor lloyds at least 5 times who were very nice after i had spoken to them as well...explained the iva situation but then called again 15 minutes later with a different agent...anyway..i had an appointment with my case agent clare early dec who finalised my paper work and then the call from Melanie herself shortly before the holiday to run through what happens next...papers sent back after xmas day and now i wait for my creditors meeting..............
just want to say that Melanies team amazing...and if you are thinking of facing your debts and are somewhat scared and lost by the whole situation.PLEASE PICK UP THE PHONE or go on the internet and contact her team.....you wont regret it.

iguignet, I'm so pleased it's coming together for you and I'm sure Melanie will be pleased to hear your recommending her, I certainly always would as she is my IP too.

All the best for your creditors meeting and do let us know how you get on won't you?
