I need to set up a new bank account and came out of an IVA last June so my 6 years for it showing on my report was up this June. Equifax and Call Credit updated my record straight away upon receipt of a copy of my completion certificate. Experian are taking ages to update my records. I need to set up a new bank account and wondered if it is worth trying while I am waiting for experian to pull their finger out. I can prove it has expired and that is has been removed from the other 2 so surely the banks will see that it should not be there as it is over 6 years old. There are no defaults showing just the IVA on the public record section which shows the start date as 29/6/07. Any advise appreciated! I am looking at a new account with Halifax or Nationwide it anyone has any advice.
Hi Louise79 - I would try and see what they say. you could explain the situation and hopefully they will see that it is only dues to an administrative delay on Experian's part that your record is not clear. They may want you to have a basic account and upgrade to a full current one once Experian's record is updated but hopefully you should be able to go straight for a normal current account.
Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for replying. I think I will take all my paperwork into the bank so they have all the information in front of them and can see it is an admin delay. I have just been putting it off really as I'm nervous about being declined, which I shouldn't be as my reports all look fine. I suppose it's 6 years of an IVA leaving a lasting effect!
I understand - it will take a while for those feelings to disappear but hopefully once you have a bank account sorted there should be much else for you to feel nervous about....well not on the finances side anyway! Good luck with your appointment
