We've had a lovely morning - the sun was shining it was our son's first holy communion and we've all been to church, said our prayers for Man Utd to win the league this aft! Came home to Sunday lunch and have some fun in the garden. Then the phone rang, it was Halifax. Do these people never have a day off![:(!] I had to explain to them that I had family and god parents round and I couldn't talk. I went off in another room to try and placate the rude individual on the other end of the phone but they wanted £467 for the arrears on my credit card and wouldn't go away! I ended up in tears. When I told my mum she offered to pay it for me, so I had to admit to her that £467 was not the extent of our problems and I have now upset my mum!

And then.......it's started to thunder and now its raining! Happy days eh?

Sorry to go on I just needed to let off some steam!![:(]

Oh Suzanne I'm sorry your day hasn't turned out badly. I'm sure your mum will be ok, she's probably just shocked and doesn't like to think of her little girl being upset.

Fingers crossed you get one wish come true - Man Utd winning the league!

Oh suzanne, what a shame your day had to be spoilt.
Take my advice and politely tell them that you are seeking professional advice about your financial situation and tell them goodbye. Do not enter into a conversation with them. If this fail, unplug the phone, especially on 'nice' days....
Hope you cheer up soon, try to enjoy the rest of your day,
xx
It's nice to be back......

HI SUZANNE

SO SORRY ABOUT THE HALIFAX RINGING - THEY ALWAYS RING AT THE WRONG TIME, I HAD A RUDE MAN ON FROM THERE TOO AND HE REDUCED ME TO TEARS.
LIKE OTHERS HAVE SAID UNPLUG THE PHONE TO GIVE YOURSELVES SOME BREATHING SPACE.
YOUR MUM WILL BE FINES SHE IS JUST WORRIED ABOUT YOU!

BARB X

Thanks everyone for your support. Hopefully it won't be long now until our proposals are together and we can get our meeting date. Once approved (and I have been saying my prayers for this too) I can stick two fingers up at the Halifax for almost ruining my day!! Thanks again x

Sorry to hear about your problems on such a nice sunny day too - it's still sunny as well in South Staffs!

I would definitly unplug the phone in future if you have company round, these firms will just not take no for an answer.

If you do have to answer just be polite, tell them you will deal with them by letter only and put the phone down.

Once you get your IVA, it is a great feeling to tell your creditors to go away!

Hey Suzanne, so sorry that they made you miserable, how horrible on a special day for you too. I'm sure your Mum is only upset for you and your feelings. Halifax called me on Saturday and I told them I had just sent all my details to my IP(only posted them on Friday). He was ok so maybe it depends who calls you. Maybe you could tell them to take your home phone number off their records and only phone you on the mobile so you can choose when to answer. Hope your day improves, the thunder and lightning has stopped in Liverpool now, still bloomin wet though. Thinking of you. Viki X

Hello

I hope you are feeling better now.
Your mum is probably just worried about you, in a few weeks she may feel that she can talk to you about it without being so upset and you may find it helps you to get through this having somebody close to talk to.
The only person that knows about our problems is my mother in law. She doesn't really understand the implications of IVA but she knows what we are planning. In fact she gave us some money a few months ago to put in the bank to tide us over until we decided what we were going to do. We used to take it off a card so that everyone got paid and the bank didn't go over drawn. I'm not sure what happened I just said no, no more taking money of the cards. I rang her and swallowed my pride and asked her to cover the bank until we came up with a solution. I was clear any money she gave us she wouldn't get back. Seems I have waffled this far I might as well say - SHE IS GREAT and not just because she gave us some money.
Ultimately what I wanted to say was I know that she is worried about us but it heps all of us to be able to talk to somebody else, but somebody who is still close to us.

Hope you all still had a good day though that aside. I'm RC and athough I don't really go to church I like the sacrament side of it I think it is nice for the children.
