I got some paperwork to sign and return in the post yesterday and my new card (and one for hubby) would be issued for the select account, I only had 28 to do so, hence I did it by return x

No you aren't bankrupt. Natwest do seem to lump all insolvencies together under the heading of br though x

Some companies do lump them all together unfortunately.

They asked the question in my application 'have you ever been bankrupt' I said no and carried on with the application. Isn't it strange how some (like myself accepted) and other not when I'm in an IVA too x

Hi All,

Just an update on this. I did an online application received the forms in the post and signed and sent them back. The letter was worded as if you were accepted and simply needed to send it back. Anyway received a letter from them yesterday stating they could not help me at this time with a current account.

I did ring them up and I had been declined so do not be surprised if this happens to you also. Such a pain in the backside having to find a Natwest or RBS cashpoint near me!!!! Cannot wait till next August when all my credit history is completely in the clear!!!

That's strange. They must put a marker on the account. Lloyds just let me open a second current account so I can only assume they didn't credit check me.

Hi BOL,

What really annoys me is the fact that I put down I did not want an overdraft or any form of credit just simply a current account instead of my step so they should not need to credit check you as you are not asking for any form of credit - NUMPTIES!!!

It is really odd how they are sorting out these upgrades as mine is set up, in my online banking I notice this morning?

Wonder if I'll now receive a letter x

Hi Lesley,

If it is showing on your online account then you have nothing to worry about. I just do not understand how some people can have it and others cannot!!!

I don't understand either Ray, it really isn't fair, we're all in the same boat, I've only had a quick look via my phone so will go look online in a moment but it does look like it's a £0.00 balance so it's a new account and further looks like I'll be swapping all my dd's etc., over myself. x

This is so strange how some people are being declined - even when they've said they don't want an overdraft etc. When we did it over the phone I told them we were in an IVA and that we didn't want any credit or credit checks. The guy was really nice and said that the application didn't need a credit check and swapped us over just like that! It's crazy how easy it was for us yet others have been refused. Even our account number stayed the same so we didn't have to change direct debits. How odd!

I can imagine you are Ray I would be too.

Looks like I'll have to swap my direct debits over myself but will do that in January as I'm not risking messing things up this close to Christmas. x
