Orla, if you are not in an IVA but are doing Debt Management, I would seriously think about changing your company. There are a few good firms out there, Melanie Giles is one who posts on here, and although I don't use her (had already sorted mine before I found this site), I have heard nothing but good about her, so you could do worse.

After picking up the pieces after the mess made by this type of firm many times previously, I would bet that you made 3 very hefty upfront payments to cover their fees after which your monthly payment was vastly reduced from the 1st 3 payments. Am I right?

I am also concerned that it sounds like you were blatantly fobbed off and misled when you rang to query re the Nationwide debt.

On a practical note, what is the situation you face now?

Regards.

When I was at my lowest and didnt know where to turn, my friend confessed that she was in an IVA and that maybe we should look at that too. I found this site almost immediately and have done nothing but read ever since. In fact I have read so much, that I began to doubt that my friend was in an IVA. A quick check of the insolvency register and many phone calls later, it transprires that she is in a DMP. She had no idea. Well you wouldnt would you? unless you came to a site like this and researched IVAs. The result now means that she can start to save and buy a home. Luckily for her, her creditors have been fab and she has managed to come to two F&F's with them. But ludicrous that she was misinformed. She is with Debt Fee Me.

You can check whether you are in an IVA by searching on the Insolvency Register which is available on-line on the Insolvency Service's website. If you are not in an IVA, it might be worth looking into one with a reputable firm.
