I just thought I'd share this as I was quite surprised and pleasantly reassured by the response I got from GT when I rang them to say that our Landlord was selling (again!!!) and that we were on the look out for a new home but it would be highly probable that our new rent would be about £800 (currently only pay £695).

I was asked if it would affect our initial contribution - to which I replied no as I could rejiggle our budget to fit it but we would not be in a position to increase our contribution at our annual review (due shortly). And the response I got back was that as long as we continue to make our initial contribution every month then they are happy! Knock me down with a feather!!!

I have to say that since I took the step of dealling with our joint IVA and finances in a pro-active way, I'm not scared or worried or even intimidated by our IVA provider and essentially as we are paying them to service our IVA i have become alot more bold in telling them what we can and can't afford and what the situation is. Touch wood - they have been happy with everything we've done/said/written.

Lou [:)]

Good news then Lou, [:D]
I really do hope you find somewhere soon, the way your landlord is treating you is dispicable....I wonder how he can sleep of a night!!!
Take care and happy home hunting,
xx
It's nice to be back......

That's really good news Lou.

It's good to hear positive comments about IVA providers as so many people have negative views. I suppose that's the nature of the forum - a lot of people come on here when they need help.

Good luck with finding somewhere x

I've got hubby onto it during his lunch hour as he is working at home - If the landlord changes his mind again though we will be telling him where he can shove his detached bungalow!!!! [;)]

gettting myself in a tiz about tiume scales and finding a perfect new home (to fit all our crap/furniture into) and worrying that if we leave oit too late we won't find anywhere and if we start looking now then we will end up paying more than we should etc. 9 weeks and counting

Still its a good excuse to clear out my wardrobe - and then buy some more stuff from ebay!!!! [:D]

Hi
Your IVA provider[Grant Thornton] will want your IVA to be successful,it's good that common sense has prevailed and that they are allowing your extra rental costs

That's good to hear as I have been transferred from Debtmatters to GT. So far, I have been happy in my dealings with them - I have asked to move my I&E due to a recent merger at work and having to take on the other company's methodology of raises and bonus dates.

I voluntarily increased my payments last year and when I first spoke to one of the GT people, they asked if I would maintain the payments ! Of course. I don't make my own amendments that I can't afford.

Here's to the last three years !

Don't forget to sell your old stuff on Ebay (and Tesco has some bargains at the mo - the top I thought was on 20% off was 50% off when I got to the till !).
There's light at the end of the tunnel - it's just that sometimes the tunnel seems so long.

I've got loads on ebay at the moment. I also got a bargain - a bran new pair of Ravel ankle boots for 99p! Even with P&P they only came to just over a fiver.
