Me and my partner are looking to get a mortgage together in a couple years when my IVA has dropped off my file and I've rebuilt my credit but I'm nervous because although he knows I am in an IVA, he doesn't know the reason why. I was just wondering if I will get asked questions such as why I was in an IVA or will it just be a question of whether I have been in an IVA or not? I'm not sure of how much detail they go into. Thank you
What you get asked will depend on which lender you approach. Remember that some lenders might refuse you outright, while some will lend easily right away and some will lend in 3 or 6 years time. Indeed, as I understand it, some might not even ask the question at all.
I would suggest a chat with a broker with experience with adverse credit. We have two such brokers who post regularly: Ryan and Shaun. Their contact details can be found on their profile pages and both will be happy to give you advice whether or not you go on to use their services.
Agree that our experts will be a good starting point.
I used Ryan's company to get our mortgage after our iva was concluded, and they were non-judgemental and nothing but supportive. There weren't too many questions asked either, and they have continued to support us and renew our mortgage rates over the last 10 years.

They asked a few questions but nothing intrusive. They were very supportive and git the best deal at the time for us. We have continued to use Ryan's team for mortgages, insurances, pensions and our Will - They can refer you to some partners they work with.
