If he'd got no insurance Skip, then that's probably why the car was scrapped. They can do it for no tax as well.

Cant belive it could be six months :( i have been sat stressing all day and it only happened yesterday. Feel so shaky and sick with worry about it all, i am the type of person who likes to know whats happening and get it sorted ASAP. the wondering is killing me, i cant eat (and thats not like me) but i guess thats all i can do is wait. cant belive people can have no regret for what they did and make you feel this bad for doing nothing wrong. fingers crossed nothing happens, just a waiting game now then. Thanks for letting me chat guys, its nice to get it out my system and its great your sharing experiences, at least it shows i am not alone :) thank you x

He also said he spoke no English, but it turns out he was fluent in 5 languages! It's a pity he didn't know how to use indicators, or have brake lights, then I might have noticed he was turning sooner!

I hate to tell you, but the time for them to make a claim is 3 YEARS!

I know, because about 18 months ago, I was setting off at a roundabout, there were no cars on it or coming from the right and the car in front of me, (had 2 young Asian lads in it) just stopped dead on the roundabout and I hit the back of it. I was only doing about 5mph but they claimed for whiplash and said I had written their car off for £12,000! The damage to my car cost £26 to fix. What a joke, I had an accident investigater come to my house and my insurance company said they know of these 2 men and they are a known scam team and they think the accident was staged. I was asked to be a witness in court but I have heard nothing since, I rang my insurance company as I have lost my No Claims Bonus and they said the other party has 3 years in which to bring a claim! I am furious as I cannot afford insurance now, my Dad bought me some as a present for this year, but I don't know what I will do when it runs out.

That's awful Jane. Luckily I had my accident over 5 years ago so I should be safe! I was also lucky that I had my no claims bonus protected so I didn't lose it, although my insurance company at the time (Tesco, I would rather walk than insure my car with them again!) were useless. I took them ages to assess the car as they said they couldn't find it, even though it was parked outside my house - it went downhill from thereon in. I lost count of the time they lost my file...

On a serious note, I read recently that there are gangs who are pulling the same scam as Jane talks out about, so the police and insurers are saying take as many pictures of your car and the other vehicle at the scene of accident as possible.

Fingers crossed you don't hear anything Jane x
