I'm in a real awkward position. I know someone who is in an IVA although they are unaware I'm in one and they are not aware I know they are.

The dilemma is they've had a massive inheritance and they are not being honest.............nobody can tell me what to do I realise but being totally honest what would you do?

To be honest I would leave it to their conscience ... there is a very good chance they will get caught out somewhere down the line. If asked directly I would not lie to cover their backs, but wouldn't go out of my way to drop them in it either.

I agree with you Foggy - I think you should leave it alone and let them get on with it. There is always the chance they will be found out.

Hi Lesley
If it were me, I would leave them to it! The chances are that it will be uncovered at some point and that is something they will have to live with should it happen!
As long as you and yours are ok hon then put it out of your mind. :)

Thanks for your replies, I can't say I was keen on 'grassing' but do find it very wrong what they are doing and would never condone it. As per before they are not aware I know they're in an IVA x

That makes it even more difficult lesley. It isn't even as if you could approach them to make them aware of what they might be risking. It isn't right. If I received an inheritance outside of IVA I would have used it to pay off my debts anyway so I don't quite get why somebody would want to keep/hide it all. But, on the flip side it would be quite sickening to think somebody had left you that money and you get to see none of it. I still don't think I would say anything though. I would see it essentially as not being my business and people tend to reap what they sow!

Not an easy question, I would keep quiet, mainly because I am not supposed to know they are in an IVA, it will probably all come out eventually, although I am wondering how? as unless you or someone else says anything how would the creditors or IP find out!

I think all of us on here would inform our IP's but not everyone is the same as us.

I am assuming you know of their IVA because of the insolvency register, might they not know the same about yours and not be saying anything to you. [:)]
If life is what you make it, I must have been in a strange mood when I made mine

No definitely not on the forum and I do know them personally to talk to, someone told me which I thought might be gossip they were in an IVA so I admit to checking the Insolvency Register and they are on there.

One of their family have seen me on the forum as I don't hide it x

Thanks for all your thoughts, I think I will leave well alone and let things run their course and you never know they may get caught out. If not my conscience will be clear of that I'm sure. x
