Me and my wife have a budget of £230.00 per month which includes everything. We tend not to buy ready meals as they work out more expensive.
We have the odd bottle of wine as a treat birthdays anniversaries for instance.
I think food in general has gone up in price you don't seem to get much for your money, we always look around for the special offers or the things with a short shelf life that you can freeze.

you should be allowed sufficient funds to facilitate realistic living expenses.. This is 2008 not 1888 !!

Our I&E allows £520 for two adults and two children and one dog... Had to be clear from the outset thet we'd stop all luxuries, but we weren't prepared to compromise on food quality to the detriment of our childrens health. Creditors seemd to accept this, possibly because I was feeling very confused, angry and upset at the time and made it clear to my IP that if they didn't I would file for BR... So glad that awful time is behind us, tis so good to feel back in control...
