I am currently awaiting my proposal from Melanie, up until 3 weeks ago I was having daily calls from Mercers but since then nothing - is this a good thing? I am really concerned they are going to turn up on my doorstep in the near future.

Hi,
It's OK that they aren't calling, and if they were to turn up you do not let them in. I doubt very much that they would. Rest assured that you are with good people sorting out your proposal and trust me soon when it's all done and dusted you will be looking at the phone wondering why it doesn't ring, and looking at your post thinking "is that all there is" instead of half a forest coming through the door with DEMAND written on it!!!

Hi Sugababe, I agree with Littleted, they won't turn up. I had threatening letter after threatening letter from them, always saying they would be sending someone. No one ever came, and I doubt if they will. Even if they do, you do not have to speak to them, and they cannot demand money from you. Don't invite them in, and if they refuse to leave your doorstep they become trespassers and you can use reasonable force to eject them.

They are just bullies, and should be ignored.

Mercers were the same with us. We entered into an IVA nearly a year ago and had a letter from Mercers every other week saying they would call. They once sent a post card giving a date and time but they never turned up. At least i dont think they did because my wife spent the whole day hiding behind the settee!

hi

just wanted to say mercers were a pain for us too while waiting for our iva to be approved, like others have said they threatened us with all sorts, doorstep collection the lot, none of it happened! the most annoying part was they would ring every day. try not to let them get to you, you will soon be in your iva and this will be behind you!

keep yer chin up!

And if you were the same as me barb, it gave you great pleasure to tell them so when they call after your IVA has been agreed

My husband is disabled so a while ago we installed a cheap intercom at our front door. We have a little microphone in oyur living room where we ask who it is. If we don't want to let them in we tell them to just go away. It's good as we don't even have to open the front door. We have a lot of problems with taxis ringing our doorbell late at night for our neighbours so it has been money well spent.

kallis

i have been having missed calls on my mobile off them for the last week but this morning i answered it and o yes i took great pleasure in telling them even then she was still trying to get a payment out of me! the ironic thing is barclaycard voted in favour!
told her i would not be answering any more calls and if they do keep ringing it is now harassment, no wonder they upset people though, as you get so low with the constant phonecalls it grinds you down!

That sounds exactly like my last call! The girl was also asking for money, even though I had told her I was in an IVA. I also mentioned harrasment. Not had one since from them though. Barclaycard didn't vote on mine.

We have since had a letter from Eversheds saying the debt has been passed to them, will now be passed onto Max Recovery but they know we are in an IVA.

THEY SAY EVERYTHING TO TRY TO MAKE YOU SCARED AND LETS FACE IT IF I HAD NOT HAD THE SUPPORT OF THIS FORUM I WOULD HAVE BEEN, THEY ARE JUST DOING THEIR JOB BUT IT IS THE WAY THEY GO ABOUT IT - IF THE CALLS DO START JUST DONT LET THEM GET YOU DOWN - THEY ARE NOT WORTH IT, EASIER SAID THAN DONE, I KNOW!

Thanks Barb.

The Barclaycard is OH name so hopefully they will refuse to speak to me. Evil I know but so far only my creditors have rang. RBS rang again tonight and again they were lovely. She said she would try and stop all the calls - we have only had 2. I am tempting fate I will be inundated now lol. xx

TO BE HONEST MOST OF THE CALLS WE GOT WERE ABSOLUTELY FINE, THEY WOULD RING AND THEN HOLD ACCOUNT FOR 7 DAYS, FOR US MERCERS WAS THE EXCEPTION TO THE RULE - YOU WILL BE FINE - YOU ARE ALMOST THERE NOW - THEN ALL THIS WILL BE BEHIND YOU!

I feel like I am in rehab.

I never want to see another credit card for as long as I live!

I have just said to OH would you consider getting another card in thedistant future 'just in case'. Fortunately he said no - just checking you see. Right answer. Got a big kiss for that one.

No loans, credit cards, finance etc. If we aint got the money then we aint getting the product or service.

I think from what has been said we have potentially got another 6-8 weeks of this, but hopefully it will be worth it.
