Medical Trials

Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has ever done a medical trial? (drug based or non invasive)I know there are obvious risks and stuff but it would be nice to be able to get a couple of hundred pounds extra now and again - even if half of it did end up getting paid into IVA!

Ive been looking at these this evening after having a bit of a horrible day really (nothing major, just thought i would have about £30 extra this month for some reason to help with some clothes and things and then find out my brakes need changing on my car! aargghh[:(]

Would be good to get some advice if anyone has done a trial

Hi Gav, sorry not done a trial but have heard the adverts on the radio. Be careful and look after yourself - the mother coming out in me!

My son looked into this while at Uni, he assured me that they were very safe, but in the end he did not do it. I was pleased. I have had a friend who once did them & made loads of money but he knew the nurse who worked there & always made sure she gave him the Placebo not the real drug so he was perfectly safe

how annoying about the car, its always the way isnt it, a good few years ago my brother did quite a few for a company called simbec and he said he had a great time and got paid for it, if you are adamant about doing it, maybe start off on quite a low paid one, which doesnt carry so much risk, make sure you do your research and that you feel comfortable with it, i know its awful being broke all the time, but remember no ammount of money is worth your health.

ooh gav remember them ones that went wrong a couple of years ago.. they ended up like the elephant man and worse!! get some clothes next month!!

I agree with Angela - I read about one of the men in the trial she is talking about recently and it was horrific. Like she says, buy the clothes next month!

I would think twice about doing that as well, you never know what will happen now, and what if any side effects manifest themselves in the future?

It's not worth it. Keep the health you have now.

I admire your courage, not something I'd be brave enough to try.

Mind you, with all the pills that I have rattling round I'm not sure they would have me anyway.......

Ive done quite a bit of research and have seen all the stuff about those guys who had major problems - still think it would be a good idea, my philosophy is to try it as i will never know and might end up wondering what if...

I'll let everyone know if i manage to find one in Birmingham though which is the difficult part, and i might start off with the non medical ones which are safe.

*by the way i dont think the car does need brakes doing just yet - i had a heavy load in the boot yesterday and just think it was me being paranoid LOL!

I did some at uni and never had any ill effects from it. Life is a lottery anyway, you could stay slim, eat well, do all the good things you should do and non of the things you shouldnt and you die anyway. Most are safe to be honest but check it out first.

good words lily i totally agree with that and thats usually how i look at things. I think this forum is great for bouncing ideas off one another and getting things off your chest - makes decisions easier too

I have been on a drugs trial for the last 2 years.
Unfortunately, i dont get paid for it. Just slightly better health.

I have read about students that do them all the time and some of them are very safe. I think the riskier the trial the more money you get paid, obviously their are risks with all of them but you have your head screwed on and will do the research!

Thanks for that. I'll let you know what i find out. Depends where you live but there are quite a lot of research projects around Leeds or Nottingham - i cant remember where you said you lived when we all met at Birmingham
