Hi everyone,

In the earlier stages of an IVA. Getting really bad hassle from mbna.
They sent me a text message this morning. It reads: Following a recent
account review you may want to consider a secured loan to manage your finances thru First Union.Call no for details. 1 hr later they rang me and wanted me to set a payment plan up. I told them a 3rd party
was dealing with my debt. She insisted I go thru an income and expenditure form with her, so that they could freeze interest and charges. Like to know your thoughts on this please. Should I do the form? Also had a text from MoneyAlert asking me to ring them. who are they?

If you are starting the set up of an IVA then you have no need to do a form for MBNA. Just tell them exactly what you are doing, and they will received all information in due course from your IP, then put the phone down.

She is just from a call centre, and will probably get commission for getting you to sign up to their version of a DMP. Ignore them.

Ignore MoneyAlert as well - that's also to do with MBNA.

My god - MBNA are relentless arent they. I am so glad they were not one of my Creditors [:)] but I do think something needs to be done about them.

I agree with Kallis3, just tell them you are in the process of an IVA and will not deal with them any further

Hi
Do not agree to anything if you are going down the IVA route, just inform your creditors that you are going to propose an IVA and give them details of the company concerned.

If you've not got a company yet, I suggest that you visit www.iva.com for a list of companies and reviews and give one or two a ring for free and impartial advice as to all your options. I would do it fairly soon if your creditors are now hassling you.

If they do phone - refuse to confirm you details and they cannot proceed with the call.

Hi all, I'm currently getting hassled by MBNA's collection agency RMA, everyday they are calling and I tell them the same thing, they are truely relentless, also received a letter from my TSB loan saying I am in arrears even though they took their money off of the overdraft that I have with them (also part of my IVA proposal) I can't weight to get my proposal and the creditors meeting out the way, but I am at least 6 weeks away from that :(

Sent off all my paperwork to DFD.They have passed it on to Tenon
because my hubbys self employed. Latest i heard they were waiting to verify husband income. Not sure how they are gunna do this as he has only been trading since oct an he dont have any accounts etc.Only thing theyhave is bank statements showing money paid in, but not a true figure because he sometime get paid in cash and money has been kept aside for food shopping, household expenditure. Its been 3 week now should I be worried? Or is this normal.

Just refuse your details over the phone.

Write to the firms and politely tell them what you are doing and that you won't be speaking to them on the phone, you want to deal with everything by letter.

I never spoke to my most persistant caller, Mercers.

I guess I am in the rollercoaster part of the process where the draft proposal is put together (I just received confirmation a moment ago that my file is complete and will be moving to the draft stage :) )
Still it doesn't stop that sinking feeling everytime the phone rings and that you have to deal with them! Maybe there should be some regulations on how they deal with you when you have told them you have applied for an IVA....

Oh nursecrippin looks like we are at about the same stage in the process (looking at other posts) so would be good to compare notes on our progress

They know that they shouldn't treat you the way they do, but the call centres are probably on minimum wage and by bullying people into making a payment, they bump their own wages up by earning them some commission.

You could always ask BT to change your number, or sign up to 'Choose to Refuse' to block certain numbers from getting through.
