Have you ever noticed the people that drive the cars you always dreamed about as a youngster? They're all really old! I always wanted a Morgan when I was younger (I'd still like one now but realise I couldn't afford it or get in/out of it in a dignified manner) but I have never seen a young person drive one.
Alas, I am dying beyond my means.

Talking about getting out of cars gracefully. ... A few years back I used to train (bodybuild) regularly (about 6 sessions a week) and was relatively fit (fit to drop now). Anyway, the gym started "Bodypump" classes and the insructor roped some of us in to make up numbers.

Don't know if you know what Bodypump is, but it's basically a sort of less synchronised form of an aerobics class, but with weights. Anyway, the istructor demonstrates a routine and advises 10kg on the bar. 10kg ???? but we are bodybuilders !!!! so we put on 40 (still not heavy .. but we don't know what is required.

Turns out this routine is a set of about 300 reps !!!! KILLER. At the end of the session we are lying, literally quivering heaps, on the gym floor. But we recover.

Anyway, right after the session my and my brother have to drive down to Buckfastleigh (about an hours drive). I had a Ford Probe at the time.

During that hour, sat in the car, our muscles set solid. In tha car park at Buckfastleigh the workere at the comapny were highly ( and I mean HIGHLY) amused to watch as our car pulled to a halt in the car park, and, after a good few minutes both doors opened simoultaneously and a few minutes later we both, literally, fell out sideways. Both still frozen in the sitting position.

It took a while to live down !!!!

I think this couple have been misguided into going public, they have now had to leave their home and bolt overseas to escape the probably deluge of mail asking for money and being pestered.I think in all honesty whilst i would love to win the lottery, i'm not so sure i'd like to win that amount of money and i'd certainly keep it quiet, pay off my debts, sort my family and close friends out and then sit back and review what i'm going to do. I do have to agree with some of you that winning that amount of money is obscene and perhaps there should've been a capped amount etc. I wouldn't like the stress of that in all honesty, at least i can live in my home without being pestered, have the press banging at my doorway or camping out there, attracting every tom, dick and harry looking for a handout or worse. I still do the lottery periodically but probably know in my heart of hearts that the odd win will come my way but not the big one, i can but hope though. Good luck to all of you who do do it. x
Om shanti, namesté, good luck to all who are embarking on the IVA journey, it isn't always an easy one but the outcome is the best.

Yes, what posessed them to go public???
Not a chance in hell I would.

Funny how people perceive things differently, a few of you saying the amount they won is too much and a couple of you saying it would give you great stress coping with an amount so large if you won it.

The way I see it, the more you win the more people you can help out, I just can`t imagine how suddenly being so rich could give Me stress...having nothing for so long is what`s given Me stress[:D]

There is no way I would ever go public if I won a lot of money on the lottery. I could quite happily ignore the begging letters - I'm sure my landfill site would be glad of the bags of shredding!

I think I would be stressed if I won that amount of money but at least I'd be doing it in private!!

Hubby and I have friends who won the lottery a couple of weeks ago. They won a very tidy sum of money and amazed us when they went public. It is really weird when someone close to you wins big though, as you don't know what to do, you don't want to call them and congratulate them as you don't want them to think you're after a cut of their new found fortune, but by the same token, if you don't call them to congratulate them, they probably think you've stayed away because you're jealous. It very quickly dawned on us though that it is people, ordinary people, who win these large amounts of money so it's possible for us all.

Good luck everyone!! [:D]

I might do a quick congratulations if someone I knew won, but that would be it.

Good luck to anyone who wins a large amount.

I would shout from the rooftops if I ever won, and the begging letters? Well, that would save me having to buy coal which woulod save me money.

I'd sign over this house to the daughter and be on the next plane out of the country to somewhere hot to find somewhere to live.

I wouldn't be shouting it from the rooftops though.

I would NEVER leave this country, no matter how much money I had. OK I would probably buy some property as a holiday home but leave? Never.

In my younger days I was in the RN, as such I did a good bit of travelling. Pretty much all of Europe, Gibralter (obviously) and the States, but I can honestly say nowhere is like here. Having said that if anyone here does win the lottery and wishes to treat me to a week abroad, I will not say no.

If I had loads of money I would move to the States in a flash. I don't think this country has much to offer anymore, especially if you're young.

Hubby is always telling his kids to move abroad.
