I have just had Lloyds TSB on the phone asking to speak to my wife. I said she did not want to speak to them. The monkey from the call centre demanded it is not an option we will need to speak to her. Unfortunately I dropped the phone straight back on to the receiver so missed the end of the conversation.

Good for you Paul. It is an option - she does not have to speak to anyone she doesn't want to, especially DCA call centre scum!

Thank you Jan and Melanie. I am glad I answered it because I can ask them stupid questions as well but I think the wife would have got a bit stressed by it.

Just read this Paul - glad you were at home. I've had those - one asked me to confirm my address - I did - Apostolic Palace, Vatican City, Europe. That did the trick
I'm glad it worked Dan! It's not strictly speaking my idea either, it's been posted on here before.

I still do that even though I have no creditors and it really confuses whoever's called! Setanta (grrrr!) phoned me a few weeks ago and she didn't know what to say when I told her I was sorry, but I didn't know who she was!
BT annoy me - it's me who sorts out the broadband and everything in the house. We're now at the end of our contract with them and they keep phoning to ask us to renew, but they refuse to speak to me as I am not the account holder!
The stupid thing is that when we have problems with the service and I have to phone the Indian call centre, they'll speak to me then and all I have to say is that I am the account holders wife!

When we were with BT Dave was the account holder, but when he disconnected from them they were happy to speak to me to tell me all about their 'fantastic' offers.
I always found that Sky were really bad and if we were adding any packages the would happily speak to Mrs GinSkipper but then refused to speak with her if we tried to reduce or cancel the service.
It's good to see a flexible approach towards customer security! [}:)]
Just had a real star on the phone from Lloyds Tsb. He said he needed to go through security with me and I said I needed his his first name and surname. Surprised but he gave them to me. he then asked for my date of birth, I said I forgot he said you cant forget your date of birth. I said hang on I will ask my wife so shouted to her and then I gave him my date of birth. He said he couldn't continue with the call as I didn't know my date of birth. I said I have just given it to you. He said nobody forgets thier date of birth, I said well I can't remember being born can you. He said well I dont forget my date of birth as I celebrate every year. I said well I don't. He said you need to go to your local Lloyds TSB branch. I said what for you rang me I don't want anything of you. He put the phone down.
