Just got off the phone and my last payment of my five year IVA is done. It left my account yesterday but wanted to confirm it had been received.
It's been the hardest five years ever. This wonderful forum has been a great source of comfort even though I haven't posted that often, just reading about others in the same boat as you has been very reassuring.
I'm debt free for the first time in about 20 years and to be honest I can't quite believe it.
Don't know what I'm gonna do with the extra money next month but one things for sure it's been a massive lesson in budgeting. I'll definitely continue to watch the pennys.
I have spent the last five years making various excuses as to why I can't go out and it'll be good to say yes every now and then. I'm also looking forward to a holiday as well!!
The worst thing about my IVA was dealing with Equity in Finance. What a horrible set of money grabbing leeches they are, feeding on the misfortune of others. I've lost count of how many forms I have filled out and in the end found it amusing when their covering letters oozed with greedy desperation.
Apart from EIF I was lucky and my IVA has ran very smoothly. Would I recommend an IVA? Only if you have a very strong willpower and determined attitude because as I've said before it's a hard journey.
Stay strong everyone and trust me the end feels even better than you can ever imagine.
Much love.

firstly congratulations on your completion! a real achievement.
ive only got 5 months left on a 6 year IVA and am looking forward to the end.
point to note - any windfalls or large bonuses etc are still liable to be taken by the creditors until the day your completion certificate is issued, so keep chasing your IVA company as ive heard it can take 6 months to get it!
F&F Accepted on 12th March 2015!
Completion Cert arrived 26th March 2015!

Thanks dand and good luck with your last few months.
Doubt very much I'll have to worry about any windfalls or bonuses!!
Thanks to this forum I know that you're still liable until that certificate arrives so will chase up every month or so for an update.
