3 months for a completion certificate is not uncommon unfortunately Rappy as it depends on any outstanding claims/actions to be made. Hopefully you will not have too long to wait.

Keep at them every single week several times a week if need be they only move when you keep the pressure on them otherwise you end up on the big pile of to-do files, pressure puts you on urgent (still big but is dealt with faster than the big big pile)
Time to end of IVA 0 days
Time to end of GT dealing with it...CC recieved after a battle royal !!

I emailed them 2 days ago and today. I will continue every week now till christmas. I hope it gets sorted asap!!!! I want to buy a bigger house so this will mean a re mortgage. Also, looking at leasing a car. Covering 30k a year is turning out to be a big expense on my own car in repair bills

Seems an awful long time and something I would be pushing for weekly now!

As you re-mortgaging why not contact Ryan one of the forum experts who is a mortgage broker with access to lots of different products to support our own individual circumstances. His details can be found under the meet the experts link or via the members A-Z.

Had a reply back, seems like a standard reply :-(:-(:-(. We are looking into your IVA etc....... 3 wks and it should be complete!!!!!

Seems like lies to me. They have said since Jan 2013. It will take, 3 mths, 6mths, 3mths & now 3 wks. I wont hold my breath!!!. Not happy with Grant Thornton dont believe a word of it.

Emailed them again today. Explaining that I have been very patient. I wanted it sorted in 10 days.

I'm in the same situation. I'm wondering if there is any merit in getting a group of us together and approaching them en masse. They don't seem to pay any attention to the persiscance tactic, totally dismissive. I think a lot of the delays have to do with PPI claims that they are still processing, not happy. If anyone is interested in a mass protest, let me know and we can pool our resources to file a big complaint.

As I have said numerous times before, people need to bombard the official complaints gateways, which does not appear to be happening.

In theory you should go through the IP's internal complaints process first, but I have read several threads regarding getting no response through this route and, in any case, it is such a clumsy procedure as to warrant a complaint in it's own right!

Grant Thornton have been in touch today :-):-). My IVA will be sorted this Friday. They will send all the paperwork Friday electronically and first class post. So,so happy.

As My IVA is 7.5yrs old who do I need to notify of this. And send them copies?. Can I now sell my house and upsize?. Also, can I get car on a personal lease?.

Thanks, Rappy

Great news Rappy. I had a mail today from closures to tell me we were still on track for my 6 month closure, with a useful summary of where we are and what's left to do. Maybe they are cottoning on to this communication lark, finally.

Another step in the right direction. Still radio silence from GT in my case, but I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and allow the 10 working days since I contacted closures directly for them to reply. If I've still not heard anything (and hopefully by then, the Insolvency Gateway would have also started to process my complaint), it's going to be back to both barrels

Little update for everyone suffering from Grant Thorntonitis. I've just made another call to customer services to ask how I go about makiing a formal internal complaint (which just FYI should be addressed to Paul Madden at their Claredon Dock, Belfast address), only to speak to a VERY helpful customer service lady called Susanne who has some sort of mystical access to their closures system, and she was able to tell me that my case was at the final stage of closure, which is the dividend payout stage. She was ALSO able to tell me that it appeared somebody was curretly in my record working on it as it was locked for ammendment.

She went on to explain that many delays have been cause to closures by something that happend back in May this year around PPI and the fact that creditors put a block on closing cases down while PPI was being pursued, resulting in MOST cases going on hold. GT have since drafted a new agreement allowing them to close cases WHILE PPI is still being pursued, allowing them to eat into the existing backlog.

Now, I'm hoping this wasn't just some sort of lip service, but if this is the case, WHY has it taken so many calls, emails and escalations for somebody to simply explain this? Drives me crackers.

The result is that hopefully this is good news for the majority of us hanging on for our completion certificate. Watch this space!!!
