Hi Chardonay

Thats really kind of you and it makes sense. I did the Kidney at uni some years ago, well the way they process drugs and such like. It was a bit of a bitch the way it came on. I did get the script earlier its a three day course of trimrthoprim. I do feel so tired I would have left the housework but with so many people staying over the weekend and I had been away before that, its been a very busy time. Actually I did come very close to going to hospital as I just couldnt stand the pain. The Doctor did say to go in if that severe pain persists for more than 20 mins and I would, its a flippin morphine job if ever there was one. Still I live in hope of it not coming back. Thanks so much for your advice. If I get the chance next week I will book an appointment and talk to the Doctor with a view to finding out the next step if I need it.

Thanks again for the fantastic info, you havent scared me, I just hope I'm one of the lucky one stone and thats its.

I love this forum, there is always someone in the know about anything and everything.

Hi Lili,
Trimethoprim is a classic anti-biotic used to treat UTI (URINARY TRACT INFECTION. It will work quickly on any infection in your water works so "peeing" will get easier in the next 48hrs or so.
Visitors or not (nurse speaking), if the pain returns in any shape or form promise me you will call 999 and get to A & E.
Your doctor should send you for IVP and Urology opinion - don't leave the surgery until he does that!! Don't be fobbed off with the old - it's your first attack and we'll wait for another - do you want to have that pain again!!!
As previously said, if you want any more help or advice, just let me know,
Please rest and give yourself time to heal - and if you like cranberry juice, get sipping,
Love and hugs,
Chardonnay

Hi Lilli ... so sorry to hear about this ... hope are soon feeling better. Take care of yourself, you do so much for others.

We are a right bunch ... I went to see my GP this evening for something completely different and have been sent for a Gastro thingy (where they put the camera down) ... hate the thought of this, I used to be very brave but nowadays am a right coward.

Ah Debbie, I'm sorry to hear that. I'm a wimp when it comes to any sort of tests so I can imagine how you feel. I hope everything turns out to be ok. Thinking of you. X

Awww Debbie that sounds yuk. I hate tests too. I will go in if that pain comes back Chardonay, I just hope it doesnt. I took to my bed after burning the kids tea, although the door is open and I can hear everything. I'm sure to be fine now that I am on the AB therapy. I guess if we cant slow down and rest, nature makes us, with attitude, like pinning us to the floor in agony or shoving stuff down our throats. I hope it all goes well for you Debbie.

I'd really love a cup of tea but I have this stabbing under the ribs thing going on just now and I am too scared to move. Well at least the kids are knackered and sleeping, awww, here is my older son, he can make tea.....

I've not had kidney stones, but I have had problems with my gall bladder, so I can guess what pain you are going through.

If it's anything like the pain I had, you won't be able to sit comfortably or lie down until it goes away.

I do hope you get it sorted soon.

HI Freelili,

You poor thing. I too have had a kidney stone attack, completely out of the blue and it was the worst pain I had ever experienced in my life. Yes, the attack can come out of no where, even if you have never had them before. I haven't had an attack since that day, which was over 5 years ago. I was admitted to hospital for a few days and investigated. You must make sure you drink lots of water, as it is when it is particulalry hot that the calcification (as I was told) can happen. Don't worry, just drink lots of water and carry on with your day to day things.

xx
