Hi all,
Just wanted to let you know we have just spent our first night in our new house.
Little update for those who don't know my story (if your interested!).
We were in a joint iva for six years, it got extended as as had to reduce payments as we had a baby. Made our last payment on 28th January 2013, we were very lucky and got our completion certificate within a month

We gave brought a new build house, we had 10% deposit and the house builder gave us another 5%. We used the mortgage broker recommended by our house builder and informed them of the iva history. They secured us a mortgage with Halifax (who were one of my creditors!) and even got the deal where Halifax paid our stamp duty.

I am still in shock that this has happened so smoothly but wanted to let you know it can be done.

Thank you for the advice i have been given, if I could start my iva journey again the only thing I would change would have been when I found this forum, unfortunately i didn't come across it until the end but it would have helped so much when I was having those scary moments thinking we would never get past it

Xxx

How true are those words of wisdom.

That is brilliant news Kelly - and will inspire other posters to know that there is definitely light at the end of the tunnel, and that your hard work to deal with your debts has finally paid off. Well done - and enjoy it!

Most excellent that the Halifax didn't hold your IVA and status as a previous debtor against you, and looked at your application on its merits. Gives us all hope!

Thank you all, been in a few days now and love the new house, finally feels like the iva in the past and can stop worrying, still have to pinch myself sometimes to make sure it's not a dream.
