Hi, my IVA was recently approved and I have just seen my details on the insolvency register for the first time.

This is quite scry, it confirms everything in black & white and out in the public domain.

Hi, I agree it's not nice and me me feel deflated but at the end of the day I didn't know about the register pre-IVA and so there are millions that don't know it exists. We're doing our best to address our financial problems. I do agree it's scary though and it shouldn't be a public document. x

I have to say that it doesn't bother me now at all. Nobody I know is aware of its existence.

I do agree it shouldn't be a public document though.

Hi - I hated seeing details on the register too, but not many people are aware of it, so try not to worry.

One day the government may see sense and realise that facing up to your debts is not a crime...... a public register for paedophiles would be worth having!

Gosh, just seen mine too. I know the on-line register has been unavailable for quite a while and i was wondering when our names would appear. I agree - it turned my stomach seeing the names there in black and white. Why do they have to be there for every nosey parker to see? Fair enough, if a company or bank etc need to run a credit check on me then it should be made known to them, but it makes you feel a bit like a criminal, having your name, address and date of birth made available to everyone. I agree Julie, to think paedophiles have more of a right to privacy than us, those who are working hard to address their problems!

Hi

I didn't know it existed before I started reading this website either to be honest. Not many people are aware of it , or have the inclination to look at it.

Hi
GZZB is right, the vast majority of people have no idea that the insolvency register exists

it is frightening though to think that your details are there for anyoen to see. I guess though that for the most part the search is via your name, so it means that unless someone is lookign for you specifically they wouldn't have a clue.

its b***** annoying that your address and dob are there for anybody to see.
so much for keeping your personal details confidential.
anybody can then take your details and use them for id fraud and in scams.
i bet them people who run it would give out there details so easily.
it should be on a need to know basis only
cc received 6th January 2014 now upwards and onwards

The only thing I would say is good luck to them if they want to try and use my details to get any sort of credit!

There are instances when your address and occupation can be left off there, if you are likely to be in danger for example.

Even if they do see you on there albeit inadvertently they won't say anything as there will be a reason they know the register exists and it's probably to check their entry. I know a few people on it but I'd never say a word to them as for all I know they know I'm on it but again I'll never know.

Try not to worry about the register.
