Nowt so queer as folk!!
Have a few people like that at my place. Just goes through one ear and out the other with me. Trouble with people these days. Far too quick to judge on something they really have no idea about! Or do they?!?!

so I suppose none of them have mortgages eh orange!!!

sanctimonious gits like that usually have something to hide,I would have felt rather smug listening to them,as you have had the sense to sort your finances out.
Cant see many people not needing to use credit one way or another nowadays, except maybe those in an iva who have a budget to stick to!!!!!

It must be lovely to never get in trouble or go wrong in life eh? *said with a heavy dose of sarcasm*

How can they ever judge anyone when they don't know their situation?

Typical people! Probably many of them are in serious debt but would never admit it. That's why I will never tell anyone about my IVA. You’re looked upon like a pariah and as if you’re “getting away with it”. 4 years down and 2 to go is no picnic!

You'd be surprised at how many people are actually up to the necks in debt but don't admit it. The difference with us IVA'ers is that we have done something about it and are not burying our heads in the sand wishing it all would go away!
IVA completed September 2014. Finaly debt free - final dividend 88p/£

These people really get on my pip!!

I know somebody who was bleating on about debt and how IVAs were designed to let people get out of paying their dues. Low and behold they are on the Insolvency Register themselves!! They must be doing ok though as they just been on a 2 week cruise followed by a week in Majorca and they paid for it themselves!! Must have some good allowances.

I don't tell people about our IVA as it's none of their business. We got into difficulties and decided to do something about it - our intention was never to get out of paying but we had to be realistic and choose an option we could afford and the creditors would benefit from. Best thing we ever did as I truly think we'd have lost our house and everything else by now if we hadn't taken this route.

Let those who speak bad of people in debt get on with it - us IVAers know the truth is they are probably up to their eyes in it themselves!!
F&F approved May 13 - just awaiting Completion Certificate - moving to a new Debt Free life !!

we havent told our families as our parents are getting on a bit and are quite old-fashioned,always saved and paid cash,so no point in worrying them.
We have however told a few friends who have been struggling with debts and put them on to the company we are with, you always think you are alone until you start discussing such things, not surprising really with the current recession and the price of everything shooting through the roof. I talk about everything to my friends,*no shame* my hubby says, whereas he is more reserved about debt matters, bit of a caveman/provider thing I think!!!!!
The subject came up in various ways,my not going on girly shopping trips or going and not flashing any plastic, refusing to go on nights out, holidays abruptly stopping etc.
Its nothing to be ashamed of and the friends who have looked into going down the iva route are very grateful we gave the advice, and kick up the backside, they needed!!!!
