hi, i got a call from coop bank and thank God, my basic current account was approved. so yesterday, I sent an enquiry form to melanie giles, and david mond.I am just awaiting for reply. Initially, me and my husband would like to do things separately, but because he's only got 11k worth of credit card and loan debt owed to 3 creditors barclay, halifax and alliance and leicester, his monthly income(as a carer) is not stable, he has been made redundant twice in 2 years (as a car mechanic)--iva is not an option for him, well that's what CCCS told him. So we decided to go through IVA together. I finally got the courage to pick up the phone and ask for an advice. I am just waiting for the return call.the question is my husband is ina rrears withnhis mobile phone , do I need to include that too? and also, as a mechnic,he purchased a toolbox ages ago and been paying £100/month but now in arrears,he said he will speak to the company and let them take the toolbox back. Do i need to include that too?,or let him sort it out himself.thank you once again.

Hi Tonetski,

Only just read these posting threads. My heart goes out to you. Reading your posts reminds me exactley how I felt right at the beginning, scared to make the initial phone call...not knowing what to do for the best. Many of us on this site have been there, done that, so we know exactley how you feel. I knew I was in trouble, if I am honest, probably about 2 years before I picked up the phone...this was when I was going through the robbing Peter to pay Paul cycle..it got to the stage where I knew I only had a couple of months then I wouldn't meet my minimum payments...I wasn't going out spending at this stage just surviving. Many sleepless nights! My only regret is that I did't have the courage to sort it out sooner. In October I will have done 3 years into my IVA. It has been hard at times but for me I actually had more money to live on than before my IVA was agreed. It brings a sort of stability back to your life...although like I said it can be hard at times when you get an unexpected bill or expense but there are ways to get through these in most cases. Also you do have peace of mind that the money in the bank is for you and you don't have the guilt that you are taking money off cards to pay other debts. You also know that you are on the road to becoming debt free which makes it all worth it!

All the very best. Let us know how you get on.

xx

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!

Wishing you lots of luck tonetshki827 I was where you were 5 years ago. I had such a headache and because it was about money I could'nt share my thoughts with anyone except my little sister. I hadn't discovered this forum (not sure it even existed) So feel comforted by having the total support of the members here. As you journey through the IVA process you may need the forum for help and personal experiences. I thought I knew everything to be known, but I come here nearly every day and when I need help someone is always able to give help. I love the forum because each member has different attitudes and perspective. You actually get to know them, through reading there responses and I think you have favorite members too which sounds mad!!! anyway take care and keep in touch xx
On the slow safe road to success. Personal thanks to Melanie Giles Kallis Skippy Elv5 and all the other wonderful forum friends.
