Hello,

I am 12 months into my IVA and have today received a letter from the IVAC advising that i contact them straight away for help and support, suggesting i may have been mis-sold my IVA and that the IVA i entered into should be more than affordable for me. I think this has happened as i have had to miss a recent payment due to the fact i had some outstanding utility bills to pay for. I have spoken with my IP about the missed payment which i am arranging to try to pay back over the next 12 months. I am curious though about the letter i have received and wondered if i should contact this IVA council or wondered if 1 of the experts could perhaps give me some advice regarding this please.

BIN IT !

Ignore it. If you search back through old posts, you'll find that most people in an IVA have received this letter.

They can get your details fron the Insolvency Register (there's another company out there called Debt Dr that do the same thing) and spam you.

There were a lot of anomalies on their web site a while back - I don't know whether this has ever been amended, but if you are having problems, the first people to speak to are your IP's.
There's light at the end of the tunnel - it's just that sometimes the tunnel seems so long.

Totally agree with Joh - give your shredder some work!
The only details they have are what is available on the insolvency website. How on earth do they know if you have been mis sold or how affordable it is. They are parasites!!

Thanks all. The way the letter read was as though the IVA council were like perhaps the Citezens advice bureau but for IVA's. What benefits would they get of sending me a letter such as this??

They would advise bankrupcy more likely and would then offer to help fill the forms for you and charge you £1500 for the pleasure, you can easily do this yourself for a third of that cost.I was very angry when i got one, making it look like they wer official and knew about your iva when they have no more info than that that you or I can get from the insolvency register. The bin is the best place.

This company are out to make money out of you failing your IVA if you feel you have been mis-sold it. They promote themselves in order to suggest they are a professional body, whereas in reality they are a front for a bankruptcy assist firm who will charge you £1,000 for filling out a few simple forms and presenting them at Court - which in my mind is try mis-selling.

All the best with that, they need to be stopped causing unrest amongst those getting on and happy with their iva's.
