Is it worth it and sensible to get an overdraught? Ive never had one and I'd just like a little one to help me out in some situations. How do they really work?

Overdrafts are fine as long as they are used sensible & for the right reasons like emergencies etc.
Basically its a way of banks to not pay you interest on your money as long as your account is in the overdraft limit in which YOU then have to pay the bank charges for the privilege of being in the overdraft.
