hi my question relates to payment breaks during my maternity leave. i spoke to my iva company today to inform them of my good news as im expecting a baby next january.i asked the advisor what the procedure is and if possible culd i have pament breaks whilst on maternity leave. she advised me to call back nearer the time of taking leave from work to discuss my options. she said it is possible to have upto 9 months payment breaks during this time and that i would need to make up the payments at the end of my iva? i was releaved to hear this as i am stressing already about costs and income whilst on maternity leave. can anyone confirm this is the actual case and what the advisor has told me is the correct information? thanks

I had two baby's during my iva, (now expecting my third and iva is over). I was with gt. I was told you couldn't have a maternity break as such, but you could take a payment break which could be up to a year if the iva was varied. I was quite lucky and my fiancee made the payments for me during the maternity leave, he was never part of my iva and doesn't believe in credit so just wanted me to get my iva over asap. It doesn't really seem right for you to delay until you are near mat leave as if you need to go the variation route these things take months to organise. What company are you with? you won't be the first to have a baby in an iva with the company so more precise advise should be available.
