Whilst the law allows it, it will remain. Rights or wrongs of it being public access can be argued. A chargeable service is fine by me but no doubt others who need access to it wouldnt be happy with that.

I agree Paul while the law allows it it will remain and I do believe Andy has petitioned in respect of this before but sadly unsucessfully.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

In this day and age of identity theft etc how easy when looking at the register, ok so no credit but other forms of id can be gained from the information that is currently held on this register, I totally agree with you Lesley it should be available to those that need it and for a fee, that way it filters out those that could and would probably use it for other means.
Om shanti, namesté, good luck to all who are embarking on the IVA journey, it isn't always an easy one but the outcome is the best.

IVA COMPLETED August 2012, received Completion certificate 18.4.13.

There are plenty other places people can source you basic information from though. Companies thrive on selling on your details.

Erk now this is even more worrying!!! Someone email them and ask for all courts, all offices for a surname like Jones and see what they send back. I bet you get an excel spreadsheet back with all the data in :(.

The search facility is currently not available due to urgent maintenance. Should you require access to the information held on the IIR you can do so by telephone or e-mail. Bulk searches should be requested by e-mail. The Insolvency Service apologises for the inconvenience caused during the maintenance period.

By telephone – between the hours of 9am and 5pm on Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) please telephone 0845 602 9848. Please be aware that this call will incur a charge – please refer to your phone provider for information on their call charges.

By e-mail to iel.leeds@insolvency.gsi.gov.uk. This inbox is a dedicated inbox for IIR enquiries during the current maintenance period, and will be regularly reviewed during normal working hours.

To assist us in providing you with a prompt response to your enquiry please ensure you have sufficient information to enable a search to be undertaken, including the full name of the individual to be searched, address, and date of birth (if known). If you are aware that the individual has been trading under a business name, please provide this name and address (if different).

Data is only as secure as the weakest link. You appear to have found it and now the database is down for essential maintenance probably to fix this backdoor into the register.
We're willing to wipe the slate clean, give you a fresh start. All that we're asking in return is your cooperation.
