Om shanti, namesté, good luck to all who are embarking on the IVA journey, it isn't always an easy one but the outcome is the best.

He is totally useless ours - we call him flip flop because he kept changing his FOUR houses so as to get maximum allowances.

and they govern the country! Blimey i can only claim £18 a year for duty shoes which i'm stood in for over 12.5hours a day, this hasn't changed in all the time that i have been a public worker, hmmmm maybe i should write to my MP and ask he/she how to go about claiming the £40 it cost me for a decent pair of work shoes, i'm prepared to blank out my details though lol.

Good one - give it try! When I wrote to him about the IR he added a comment of his own ".............in 99% of debt it the fault of the debtor and they should not attempt to hide from it". I cannot put on here what I wrote back!

I reported him to the Parliamentary Standards official because he claimed petrol for a car which he had previously sold ! No reply yet.

Michael I am as quiet as a mouse but the people here who go to our Parish Priest for help are in desperate straights and it makes me angry when the MP won't do a thing to help them. I spend a great part of my day writing letters to the Benefits Agency for these people and the MP could not care a jot.

Maybe you should do a Martin Bell or Esther Rantzen. Most people are peeved with their MPs for taking our money and doing nothing and could support an independent candidate. Might be worth a thought and your IVA is no bar to being an MP.

There would no chance here - the landed gentry and farmers put him in - several thousand majority. I can make myself a nuisance to him though!

Going back to the original thread - whilst I don't agree with the register being public at all, I agree with Skippy that if you are insolvent, then doesn't matter who you are, your details should go on there.

However, if there are special circumstances (violent ex partner for example), you can ask for your address details to be witheld. Your name goes down, but no other details.

Andy did a petition last year to try and get it removed from public view, but it was turned down.

I do know that you can have your details excluded for certain reasons though. Similarly with notices in the local paper for BR.

Yes, I researched that together with what I have learnt on herec- it is worth a shot to see if Straw will intervene- after all it does not require a Statutory Instrument only a ministerial direction.

Good on you for trying, but I can't help thinking that you are fighting a losing battle.

Wow i didn't expect this kind of reponse, i agree Jan i have no problems being on the insolvancy register but what i do object to is my DOB and address being on there for all unsundry to see, this should only be made available for those that need to see it, ie credit agencies and so forth and then they should have to provide a password to access that info, surely this is an infringement of human rights and also am i not entitled to see whom has been seeking me out on the site! I don't have anything to hide all my friends know about my IVA as well as some of my colleagues at work it is just the sheer cheek of it, data protection what is that! rule for one etc.
