So if my wife wants to stay in the house - I carry on paying the mortgage and IVA + rent somewhere for me - what if I can't afford this? what about paying/supporting my children?

Hi Colin - my dad always said divorce was an expensive business! Does your ex-wife work or is she otherwise in a position to contribute to the mortgage and childcare costs?

I am afraid, Colin, these are all matters for the solicitors and courts to settle. The only winners in a divorce are the lawyers! Of course the paramount object is to make sure the kids are looked after. But you will have to wait until the dust settles to see how it might affect the IVA.

I don't think that your creditors will be happy to see you suppoting two homes - would this be affordable for you?
