Hi there

I would be grateful for some advice on the following

I commenced an IVA in August 2005 which was due to run until August 2009. Due to the help of a very good friend my IVA was completed December 2008.

I remember being delighted it was over but still subdued as was 29, living with my parents and had zero savings.

I have been relatively responsbible in the last 12 months, I am sure nobody would have given me credit if I begged anyway.

Anyway, I have saved £8,000, my parents have offered me £35,000 to use as a deposit for a house. This may sound like good news but I am now in a bit of a panic.

They never knew about the IVA in the first place and if they did wouldn't trust me with the £35,000 I am sure.

I am worried that due to the economic climate I will be unable to get a mortgage due to my completed IVA.

Are there any mortgages out there for people like me?

Do you have any contacts who specialise in these kind of things?

Hanging in there to complete my IVA was one of the toughest things I ever went through. I did feel good when it was over but I must admitt that I still feel very down about my current position and would appreciate any help.

Hi Zonta - congratulations on completing your IVA. That must have been a brillaint feeling!

Andrew from Brightoak is excellent when it comes to mortgages, as is Tony ( welshboy). They will be able to help you I'm sure. In the least they will give you honest advice.

xx

A call to Tony Parsons who posts as Welshboy woud be a good start. He would be able to search the whole marketplace for you to see what deals there would be available for you. With such a large deposit, I would have thought that a mortgage would be possible for you.

I assume that you mean your IVA was concluded in 2007?

Hi
I agree with Melanie, you have a large deposit and a successful IVA so a mortgage should be very possible

Thanks for your replies everybody, very much appreciated and it seems quite encouraging.

I have made a few enquiries elsewhere and the feedback has not been so good. It seems I will find it impossible to get a mortgage with a bank and will have to take a terrible rate elsewhere including huge penalties if I try to switch when I have proved I can manage my finances.

I am new to the forum, how would I go about getting in contact with the suggested experts?

Thanks again

I suggest that you contact Welshboy - Antony Parsons, whose details are on the experts page to the left of the forum posting area. Let me know if you cannot find it, or drop me a note to my website, and I will send you his contact details.
