CF .... sigh.... IF you can get a point of contact ie caseworker it makes life so much easier! Once I had that one person to deal with it was pretty smooth .... completion was really impressive under 2 weeks for me and most of the others who have completed. Not sure why customer service would say 6 months? Maybe so people are so impressed when it arrives so fast they forget about all the negative stuff!!!!

Six months is the standard backstop written into all proposals, which can be extended by prior notice, so is the timescale oft quoted.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
