I paid my last payment in June for my 5 1/2 year IVA,great news. I have since tried and tried to get answer from DFD regards closure. They have ignored me pretty much. Now to my shock today I receive a letter to say tht my annual review needs completing. I am surprised by this why didn't they do so when my last payment was sorted ? To make matters worse they are sending someone to my house to complete it...new procedure apparently! Now I ask obviously I haven't paid my IVA for several months and have been on holiday etc which will show up on bank statement, how can they review me when I haven't been paying them. Can they even do this? I even got a new TV the last month ...I felt I was allowed to treat myself after 5 years in trouble. (not over spend) urely a review isn't required now ? ? I have spoke to them but they say its required!!

As the IVA is still open, they are obliged to conduct annual reviews, albeit of a truncated nature. Having finished paying it should be a rubber stamp job as it is now irrelevant.

When I finished I had a review when putting together my F&F. A few months later my anniversary date arrived which triggered the annual review. My IP simply wrote a report stating that any review would be the same as the last one and that he didn't propose to conduct a full review. The creditors seemed happy.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

I find it really worrying as my bank statement shows me spending cash, which I feel I am entitled to do now as I have paid up. I can see them thinking I owe more even though ive paid it. If they had pulled their finger out then the IVA should be closed. Its annoying that they didn't return emails and calls when I asked about the certificate yet they all of a sudden want to talk to me.....I would avoid Debt Free Direct at all costs

But that cash was yours to spend. Your payments had ended and therefore you are entitled to spend your money how you wish.
I don't personally understand why home visits are taking place at the end of a IVA either ..in my opinion at the beginning if at all would be better option

I'd treat this as an opportunity, not something to be feared.

You want answers, you've done your bit they need to do theirs. Your conscience is clear, you've paid what everyone agreed. Spend as you wish.

How about... (nicely of course)

"I'm glad you're here, I've got lots of questions!"

"Why has it taken 4 months for you to come and see me when I finished in June?"

"Have you got my completion certificate with you?"

"Do I need to do anything else or can we close it off right now?"

"How come it's been so hard to get a response from your office?"

And don't forget "Tea or coffee?"

If he/she can't answer anything, politely suggest they call the office right now and get the answer for you.

Let us know how it goes. Other people with DFD will be keen to know.
One pay-cheque away from oblivion!
