Hi Jayne, sometimes it's been advised to other posters that you need to pay up front for 6 months due to having a poor credit history. Or you could always try a private landlord who doesn't credit check.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Hi, I rent in an iva and there are a couple of options. I paid an extra month deposit and my dad went guarantor, this negated the need to pay 6 months rent up front. I also took the time to talk my agent and his boss through IVAs and how it meant my rent would always be prioritised above my debt payment. My case worker was also very good and agreed to talk to the letting agency and send a letter if needed...it wasn't. I would also advise using the independent agencies rather than the big names as they are more likely to use the cheaper credit check which only shows up CCJs and BR. It us more difficult but there is always a solution.

I have a lot of clients in IVAs who have had no problem in getting a new tenancy - the best thing to do is to be up front about your financial difficulties rather than letting the agent find out about this from the check itself.
