i just dont know what to do?? as you know my IVA was rejected on the 10 april by MBNA whilst my husbands was approved. i rang MBNA today to let them know that i am paying my surplus income to payplan to arrange a DMP. the lady at MBNA asked me if i knew the reason for the rejection, and told me that they had worked out that i could pay the debt in less than 10 years in a DMP. i told her she was mistaken as i have £127pm surplus for a £17k debt and that was closer to 11 years +. she informed me that they had the wrong figures on my proposal as it stated i have £176pm. she then told me that they would not allow a DMP that ran for more than 10 years and questioned why my IP had not asked MBNA why they had rejected so that this could have been picked up earlier and rectified because at £127 pm they would have probobly approved the IVA...WHAT DO I DO NOW?????[:(!]

RC, that's awful. I'm sure one of the experts can help you with that one. I can't believe all the hassle you've had recently. Hang on in there. Viki X

IPs should always question why IVAs have been rejected, and you should now bounce this back to the IP who represented you to see if they would be prepared to represent the case.

It is interesting that MBNA are taking this stance over DMPs, and useful to know for future reference,

That is quite unbelievable rollercoaster, Im sure an expert will be able to give some good advice.

If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said that it’d be easy, they just promised it would be worth it."

if he does re present the case, does that not effect the fact that we initially wanted the IVA to be interlocking as OH was approved on 10 april (although first payment is 9 may?)

They will have work to do to sort this out - but it is not unsurmountable if they feel that they can get MBNA's support.

thanks, i have emailed my husbands case officer to enlighten them to the situation and to express my anger that such a huge mistake could have been made which ultimately led to my IVA rejection.
