Yes, think it probably would be a problem! It was really just a rheotorical question, as I say I have no problems at the moment with mine. I'm sure i'll think of many more questions along the way which will have no relevance whatsoever. As i said earlier i'm a worrier!!

Hi, we have had a letter today from a company called power2contact regarding the Halifax debt. Has anyone heard of this company? They are saying somebody will be calling at the house if they have no reply from us in the next 3 days! Any help please

Power2contact are debt collectors.

It is unlikely that they will turn up at the house, it is usually an empty threat. It could also just mean that they will phone.

However, if they do turn up, you do not have to answer the door, and they cannot force you to make any payments at all.

Kallis, they won't be able to phone as we changed our phone number because we were getting a lot of calls. If they can't contact us by phone do you think they are more likely to come to the house. Should we just ring them to let them know we have our creditor meeting date.

You can phone them if you wish.

It is rare for debt collectors to turn up, but it does happen. The posters on here who have experienced that have said that they are usually very polite, and when you tell them you are going for an IVA, they usually accept that and go.

Make sure that if you do phone them they can't find out your new number. Unless you already have it blocked, dial 141 I think it is, before calling them. If they ask for your number, just give them the old one.

Don't worry, I had more threats of debt collectors calling than you can shake a stick at! You're almost there now.

My main worry is that because its school holidays my parents come and look after our children while we're at work and i'm worried someone will come then as they know nothing about our situation.

They won't be able to speak to your parents about your situation anyway. If they did turn up, you could always tell your parents that they have you confused with someone else.

If you ring them, they will try to get a payment out of you, but stand firm, tell them about your IVA date and then put the phone down.

Think I will ring them just to be safe! I definitely will be firm, I had another creditor ring me a couple of weeks ago trying their hardest to get me to make an interim payment. They went on and on and on and on!!! In the end I just said we're proposing an iva, thats all I have to say and put the phone down. Although they have tried ringing my mobile up to 4 times a day every day since!! I just reject the call. The way I see it i've told them whats going on and am not going to tell them over and over again!!

Thanks Ronald. Touch wood we have not had any problems with the car other than needing new tyres, it was one of those "just in case" questions.

Our debt actually worked out at about £103000 in the end, even more than we thought when all added up! Our dividend is 23p in the £. Hopefully it will be accepted because its our best offer. Don't know what will happen if it goes pear shaped!
