Thay are Barclaycards collection agents and can be pretty relentless. I wouldn't return the call, personally. If they want to talk to you let them pay the phone charges!

If you do answer the phone to them, either refuse to answer any security questions and / or just tell them the IP's details and suggest they speak to them.

I might add that whatever they say is hot air and BS at this stage they will try to intimidate you -- don't let them. YOU are in control, not them!

Good advice from Foggy Lem, sadly you are at the time in the process where you will have quite a few more of this type of call. Just remember you are in a strong position as you have taken action to deal with your debt and these callers are just bums on seats who have targets to meet. You can just say that you are in the process and give your IP details. Some people ignore calls, personally I took them all, but it is up to you...

Don't let them terrify you. Sorry, Lem, I have lost track of where you are in the process .... but don't fret. Remember Rosepetal and all the hassle she had, but she got through it. You know we are all here to offer advice and support and you will prevail!

Sorry foggy, we made our first call at beg of dec and our proposal is being put together at the moment, we are with Mel's team, we obviously don't have a date set for the meeting yet, delays have been because of my job which are more or less sorted now, I am due to speak with proposal team again on monday

all the calls so far have been from our original creditors, this is the first time any of it has been passed on, Mercers have just called again but it is a message that is left asking me to call them on an 0844 number which I don't want to do, this is the 3rd time they have called in the last half hour and left the same message when I picked up the phone

Don't panic.... They won't come knocking an if you do speak to them provide your IP details and terminate the call.... It will all work out for you but you do have to remain strong and firm

Hmmm --- I wonder if it's the same 0844 number on Barclaycards posts ?

I have posted on the Barclaycard thread asking about Mercers. Maybe you could email "Barclaycard" directly.

Hi Lem,

Sorry you are being intimidated. I had the same thing happen to me when I first started out.

I actually answered the calls, BUT when they asked my password, DOB and other security details, I just responded to each question by saying: "I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours first!" They cannot continue with the call if you won't answer the questions. OR you could always tell them you are not prepared to talk to them and ask for a number you could call to verify their intrussion. You don't have to call back... this way you are in control.

Good luck... I'm sure it won't be long before you're into your IVA.

Hi Lem - dont FORGET these numbers are more expensive to caLL. Also despite threats - they are very limited to what they can actually do - without a court order !!

Thank you everyone, I have never had to deal with DCA's before so this is new territory for me, I will check the 0844 number on the Barclaycard thread, I have answered the phone each time but it's just a recorded message left for me to phone them

Barclaycard - have masses of diffrent numbers for diffrent departments - with a large percentage being 0844 numbers about 8.5p/min BT lines

Hi Lem, we had a lot of trouble with Mercer's,they were awful, threatening BR and that someone would come out to the house, this happened more than once, i was a nervous wreck - i kid you not!

NOTHING HAPPENED! the guy's here are right it is bully tactics to scare you.

my hubby rang them twice(charged higher rate so be aware of that),it made no difference at all, they still kept trying to scare money out of us.

even though you're scared ignore the pressure...your IVA will soon be sorted out. save for that emergency fund....our toilet seat broke today,if that'd happened last year hubby would have bought a new one on his card(and not paid it off!),the emergency fund means the new one will be paid for with cash! save, save, save, these people con't care about your emergency fund, make sure you create one-however small.

big hug,you're getting there,hang on x
Nothing stays the same...everything changes..hang on in there!
