I am thinking of entering an IVA with my husband, however on working out our expediture am unsure if we would be able to cover the minium £200 per month repayment, I do not want to enter this lightly and so have looked at all options. An IVA appears the best but I am scared that we may not be able to do it even with a strict budget? Is there anything else I can try or is this how everyone feels?
Advise would be great.
Thanks

Hi Kari and welcome to the forum

There are companies who will do an IVA for you if your disposable income is lower than £200. Try Cleardebt - as I think one of the regular posters on the forum works for them so they may give you better advice on this point.

Hi,

Thank you Melanie and Size 5 for your replies, I have been looking at Cleardebts website and sounds good. But does anyone have any advise if they are the best people to go with? I have orginally been speaking to both Debt Free Direct (who I can see have a really bad rep on here) and Debt Advisory Clinic. But from what I have read Cleardebt sounds good. Just wanted to hear other peoples experiences.
Thanks a lot and really appreciate the help, it is keeping me sane![:)]

I would not have recommended them if I did not feel they could do the job!

Hi Kari
We are with ClearStart and they have been great with us. I'm sure we pay about £400 between us and have the 4.5year equity clause. I think from sending all the documents to them and having the IVA approved it took about 6 weeks and they were always available at the other end of the phone to calm me down. I still have quite a bit of dealings with them now as we have to pay over 50% of my husbands overtime and it was arranged that we would do that every month which makes life a lot easier for us.

Hope this is of help to you

Im with Clearstart and I don't pay 200.00 a month. However I do pay 330.00 a month for the last 20 months, when my car HP is cleared.

May be wrong - but I think that "ClearStart" and "ClearDebt" are different companies (above thread refers).
47 months completed - 13 months to go.

Hi Everyone,
Firstly can I thank you all for your replies, it has really helped to calm me down. You have all been a great help.[:D] I have since spoken to ClearDebt and they have been very helpful. I am being sent out a pack shortly and have been advised that I may be better off with a debt repayment plan than an IVA at least until a few things are sorted eg sale of car, pay rise. This has eased my mind slightly knowing that I can see how this goes and then enter an IVA knowing all the details if it does not work out. It will also be a great excerise for me with regards to budgeting and show my creditors that I am able to make the monthly payments for a while first.

Fingers crossed with Cleardebt, they certainly sound a lot better than most of the people I have been speaking to. A good recommendation Melanie, thank you. Does anyone else find it so frustrating that all the different companies have so many various ways of dealing with an IVA? you are never sure if the one you are speaking to is best?

Thanks again
Kari

That is why it is important to try out several to see which one you feel most comfortable with - after all you are going to have a relationship with them that lasts for a long time, and need to be assured that they will be there to help you when needed.
