not sure if true but has far has i aware in the case of references are concern they arnt allowed to slander you ! i once has such a reference and the person concerned was given a verbal warning for slandering me !
Correct Orange they cannot slander you, but it would not be amiss to mention that you were fired for misconduct. Many employers in this position merely refuse to give a reference, which speaks volumes in itself!

Hi- employers do not have to give references, but if they do- the reference must be true. You have the right to see a reference.
I would not advise resigning as the disciplinary would still conclude in your absence. Make sure you are prepared and have seen all related documents prior to the hearing stariting.
If you are dismissed, then I'm sure your IP wil be supportive.
For future employment, always be honest at interview about reasons for leaving past employment. If you want further employment law advice off forum please let me know.
