Hi

Like you Carrie I will miss my holidays in the sun. They were paid form profit sharing and then share save( I used to work in a bank) not much on plastic! I don't miss the bank though. I worked there for 35 years but in the end it really got me down, all the high pressure selling. I am now working in local government and enjoy that much better.

I am too very practical now when asking for a gift, I had new work trousers for work from Daughter this year, christmas given a choice I will ask for something practical and my hubby just wants vouchers from a local angling shop as he loves to buy his stuff to help him keep up with his hobby or maybe that should be obsession!

I have to say I still like having little luxuries for Christmas and birthday presents.

This year I've given my mum a list of the perfume and skincare that I like and she'll get me something from the list.

Not too bothered anymore about luxuries. As long as I can keep my head above water, I'm happy.

I miss buying my Clinique stuff myself, so if anyone's happy to buy them for me I won't complain!

Never bothered about facial stuff as I don't wear make up anymore, so not worried about that.

If I need anything it's Avon these days!

Unfortunately Avon stuff brings me out in spots, hence my wish list to my mum!

The only thing I really buy from Avon these days is lipgloss, but as we've got a scary Avon lady I make Dave go to the door!

Ladyh, it has to be Aussie shampoo and conditioner for me!

I could open my own Estee Lauder department, I was fortunate (unfortunate, shout my debts) to work in a store in London that generously gave me a 50% discount. Shelf-life allowing, I should be able to last for a bit.

I used to think nothing of spending £16 (full price) on a lipstick, now I can feed my family for 4 days on that!!!

That sounds familiar Nic, except it was Clinique for me.

I have to say I don't worry too much about shelf life - providing it doesn't smell funny and it's still the same texture I use it until it runs out!

You girls are so high maintenance lol! Luckily I can buy my shampoo and conditioner and half decent skin care at the wholesalers, half the price!

I agree about things smelling funny or going a bit gloopy! Only thing I'm hot on is mascara because it harbours bacteria in the brush and can give you eye infections- I sound like I work on a counter!

We were expected to be immaculate at work, even though I was office based, you get into the habit of grooming yourself to such a level, I haven't calmed down yet, bit much for the playground ha ha!!!

I never wear mascara - I've got long eyelashes and the last one I bought made me look like a blue-eyed cow! I usually have my eyelashes tinted as I know someone who does it quite cheaply for me.

I don't often wear make up to work (too lazy in the mornings!) so it lasts me forever!

Can't remember the last time I wore makeup. I use Herbal Essences shampoo and conditioner at the moment and that lasts me forever as my hair is extremely short.

I always used to colour my hair but gave that up when I entered the IVA as I couldn't afford it. I also just have a dry cut now as that's the cheapest thing. I'm glad that I don't have a vast amount of grey, which surprises me as I'm well into my fifties now.

I have my hair coloured at home now'a'days for half the price of the salon I used to visit! Not saying it's as good but it'll do, I used to have gel nails and a facial monthly too but all that has stopped now...I love to be pampered and could go the salon at college for a fraction of the price which I think I might try in the new year as all the treatments are the same but just done by supervised students, I might have a think about that.

I don't think I have any luxuries, my daughter works in a beauticians so we share a lot of make up, yes I know not ideal but needs must etc.,

DIL is a nail technician but don't have mine done anymore, but the free offer is always there if I change my mind. we also share jewellery and shoes, how sad am I sharing with a 16 year old and I'm nearly 50! Mutton dressed as lamb spring to mind?? Mind I wish I could borrow her clothes but she's an 8-10 and I'm more a 16-18 so don't think that can happen, but we do share accessories as in scarves etc.,

Daughter and I shared clothes earlier this year, but I'm now smaller than her! I wore some of her stuff on holiday, and I'm older than you so you wouldn't be mutton dressed up as lamb at all!

If it looks good - who cares!
