If we got one, we desparately need a chest of drawers and a wardrobe for my bedroom, we will scour the second-hand shops at the weekend [:D]

The £60 will be followed by £60 more in £10 increments till April 2009.

My 'gift' should be in my pay packet this week.

I am going to spend every penny on food for a family meal, a dvd, nibbles and pop (perhaps a bottle of Rioja for Hubby and me) and we are going to have a mega family night in.

That should just about take care of most of it.

Mine will go on my car if Tesco don't pay I have just heard from the garage that I need a new engine the car is only 4 years old and done 30,000 miles. I just want this month to end. Emailed IP re a payment break and haven't had a reply will phone tomorrow to find out.
Also found out today my sisters have paid £120-150 for flowers for dads funeral and all I could afford was £40. I know the cost doesn't matter but I am fed up being the poor relation. Sorry for the moan just a bad day.

That's terrible Jan - how on earth can a 4 year old car need a new engine? I know it's out of warranty but surely Vauxhall should do something as it's not fit for purpose?

I know it's easy for me to say, but try not to worry about the flowers. It really is the thought that counts, and your dad would understand - he knows that you love him, and that's all that counts.

That's incredible Jan ... I can't believe that a four year old car could need a new engine!

I see very expensive flower tributes every day ... and do you know what the nicest, most thoughtful, sincere and genuine ones are? The ones that someone has 'made' themselves ... a simple spray of flowers (often from a garden) tied with some raffia or ribbon ... it says so much more.

Thanks for those kind words I know its not the money spent but what is your heart that counts but I still feel bad however I have always thought expensive flowers to be a waste and much prefer to give money to a charity my dad loved horses and donkey's I think I will adopt a donkey in his name or a sponsor another child in Africa in his name he always got very upset when he saw footage/pictures of children suffering in Africa/Asia.

I lease my car so I am going to speak to company tomorrow and see what can be done and see if they will take it up with Vauxhall. I do have a Tesco car warranty plan and they are coming to assess the damage with in 48 hours and see if they agree to a new engine. I am a careful driver don't thrash the car so I find it incredible that there is so much damage especially as there was no warning lights at all. Still I am sure it will be be fine.

What a lovely idea about the donkey Jan!!

If it is a lease car aren't the lease company responsible for the repairs?

Dave and I have got an adopted donkey. We went to the Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth in Devon in August and adopted him then. I love donkeys, and I think that would be a lovely thing to do for your dad x
