how many calls should i expect, my creditors are natwest, mbna, capital one and first direct. has anyone had these companies in their iva, and how many times do they ring. i have been told time and time again that iva's are confidential, but is there any chance that natwest would get in touch with my parents who are also banking with them to tell them and try to get them to pay off my debts.

Natwest wont contact your parents directly but you will get lots of calls from creditors,no matter who they are.
Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.

MBNA used to phone my home number about 5 times a day, First Direct wrote to me every week because they didn't have my tel number. Not sure about your other creditors. At least you don't have Barclaycard or Halifax, they called 10-15 times a day. I never answered the phone to them once while I was waiting for my creditors meeting. It's just not worth the arguements.

Barclaycard (Mercers) did come to the door.

i just thought could i change all my address details to my work and just give them all my mobile number. would the creditors still keep a record of my old house number and address and use them. still would prefer the iva but cant risk the family finding out.

An iva would be difficult to keep from a partner, and I think that you should tell them to be honest, it is easier if you can share the worry. I have a 'joint' iva with my husband, but I have told my 2 best friends too. They were fine about it, and why shouldn't they be? That's what friends are for.

its my parents finding out that would worry me most, my partner is quite understanding. but my parents cant ever find out about this, this is why i cant have creditors ringing my house all the time. i can handle them ringing my mobile, but i put my house phone number on all of my accounts. is it possible to stop them ringing my home or will they just do it anyway.

I'm not sure, with me they rang both my home and mobile, and they always left messages, either on the answering machine, and once with my 6 year old son, asking him for my work number!

The calls started the day after the first missing payment, they are that keen.

It will be difficult keeping it from the people that you live with.

Luckily the debt collectors who came to the door did so in school time, so none of my children were here.

If the creditors csn't get an answer on your mobile, you'll find they'll call any number they have for you. I can understand it being hard to tell your parents, remember the creditors can;t discuss your account with them, but the calls can come thick and fast until the IVA is up and running.

Is changing the home telephone number an option?

Touch wood, i haven't had any calls from creditors yet, my meeting is on the 19th March. I think i've just missed my first payments this last week so i'm expecting a few calls this week. Luckily i'm not at home a lot and can't have my mobile with me at work so i should miss the calls. My main creditors are Barclays and Halifax!

Unfortunately, it is just something you have to put up with.

Some posters have actually phoned the creditors themselves to put them in the picture, and usually they will limit the calls to once a week.

You could try doing that.
