I entered into an IVA agreement in Dec 2001 which was successfully competed and finalised in June 2003(Certificate of completion issued and retained by myself)
I now find over 4 years after its completion I am unable to get any credit IE car loan etc.
Should this be the case if not any suggestionsas how to rectify my credit rating

Try sending a copy of your Completion Certificate to the credit reference agencies, Equifax and Experian so they can update your credit file to "Satisfied"

The IVA stays on your credit file for 6 years from when it STARTED... so in december this year it should be removed. maybe its worth waiting until then and checking with experian and equifax thats its removed.
I would also look online for car loans for people with bad credit. It could be that your popping into car dealers and the car loans are being made by high st banks that are saying no!

i have written to all the credit reference agancies and equifax are the only one that seem to refuse to mark up the IVA entry as satisfied. I have written twice both times including the completion certificate. I have telephoned and at the request of equifax faxed a copy of thecertificate to them, but still no luck. I willtry again and see where we go any othe suggestions??
Thanks from Frustrated Paultherunner

Hi
As JPJ has said it will fall off the end of your credit file next month. You may as well wait until then and you should see an improvement in your credit standing.

Hi
Thanks for your advice I will see what the new year brings
despite these problems to any one who has concerns there is life to be had after the IVA is up and running and eventually sorted. The removal of the debt pressures is amazing in itself. Good luck to all who are embarking on this jouney

I have just had a very productive phone conversation with equifax who have finally responded to my requests to mark up my credit file (Although a little late in the day) They have confimed what you have informed me that all the undesired credit history shown on my file will auomatically 'drop off' on 17th Dec with no trace that it ever existed. This also incudes the credit agreements that were wrapped up into the IVA as they are also 6 years old.
I will post again early in new year to inform you if this actually happens and how much my credit rating improves
Feelng more releived as the day goes on
Thanks to all
Paul
