Hi, I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice. We are currently looking into an IVA. We have some debts with a DMC but it is not working.
We are at the moment renting a house from a friend for £35 per month but our landlord needs to sell.
We are looking to rent another property but the rent will increase to about £800 per month. My main concern is that we will be refused when the letting agent does the credit check. Does anyone have any experience of this and if so what was the outcome. We are worried that we may become homeless.

Hi
If you rent off a private landlord who does not use a letting agent then they will not do a credit check.
Even if you do use a letting agent you can still get accepted if you have a large deposit, say six months.
I,m sure that you will be ok and we have had no posts on this forum from anyone not being able to rent due to credit problems.

The only problem in my area is that most properties to let are done through letting agents. It is very difficult to find a private landlord here. I would not be able to find the money for 6 months rent although could probably find about 3months (If Mum and Dad sre willing) although I would need an extra 1 month for the deposit.
Just getting a bit worried.

Hi
Well if you decide on the IVA route your IP will normally nadvise you to stop paying all your unsecured creditors. You could use this money to fund an extra deposit.
You need to sort your living accomodation out above everything. Why not talk to letting agencies and be frank with them, you may be surprised at the positive response.
