It is so annoying that we are targeted. We've taken control of our finances and firms should acknowledge that.

I completely agree - I know of someone whom bought a TV off ebay (HD plasma sort) with a cracked screen n claimed on the insurance n got a new one!

Something I would never dream of doing!

No way would I do that! All of our claims have been genuine. When hubby dropped his glasses on the floor and they broke, it was the optician who suggested we claimed for that, wouldn't have thought of it otherwise.

horrendous in my view! N whats worse - they were not exactly desperate for anything!
I dont have any fancy TVs but they had one n did that to get another one!
This person also hunts in charity shops n sells "branded goods" of all kinds for lots of money on ebay.

I hope they get caught out with the insurance scam as that is not acceptable.

As to Ebay, I've resold stuff that I have bought from there originally. I would also sell stuff that I had bought from a charity shop if I didn't need it or it didn't fit me.

Don't make a load of money from it though! Usually sells for 99p!

What I should have said as well was that I wouldn't scour the shops for stuff to sell on.

It's always stuff that I have worn or used.

They bought a designer purse for 50p n sold it for $110! Dont think what you do is in that range!

Sorry just thinking, i have bought stuff from ebay n sold it on because of not being suitable for me etc.
But no way would I scrounge round to make a profit! They even pull the tags off in the charity shop n ask for a price - which is often lower than the one they put on! N then put it on ebay.
Believe me its not one of my friends - just someone I know that does.

No way!

The most I ever made was £85 for a Timberland sweatshirt that cost me £20 from my catalogue and I never wore it. It ended up as a bidding war and I really thought someone was taking the P when I saw what was happening.

Hi Jan n peeps!

Insurance company handling my claim phoned today n to arrange a courier to collect the Wii tomorrow, so they can take it away n look at it n either repair or replace it.
Ive only every claimed once over 4 years ago for a TV my eldest knocked over, n never dealt with anyone coming n taking stuff away.
They said they would know by friday n phone me.
Can anyone with experience of insurance claims tell me if this is the norm etc n what happens next!!!

We've claimed for a laptop and Ipod in the past 12 months. Both times the items were collected by couriers and taken away so they could see if they were repairable.

You will have no worries and I reckon they will replace it.

Silly really Ive paid all these years with only 1 claim worth about $300 n i paid the first $50, n I feel like a criminal! why?! Silly me!

We took the Wii down to a nieghbour, plugged it in with their leads n its still wasn't working.
So its definitely broken!
