Whilst we were in the IVA and subsequent BR, taking a holiday seemed impossible, but we were lucky that in laws paid to take us away.

Pre IVA we enjoyed many holidays abroad and never considered holidaying in the UK. Since the iVA and more importantly since Dobby came into our lives, we have not considered going abroad as we will never leave Dobby. So we have taken advantage of holiday cottages and enjoyed every minute!

The breaks are not expensive and have given us the opportunity to explore great sights in our own country.

I do enjoy a "sun" holiday, but am enjoying walking and exploring with Dobby in the UK far more than I could imagine.

Booking a holiday cottage is worth looking into [:)]

I've been to the races there Lesley.

FaceTime, Skype etc is great but nothing will compare with you seeing the boys in the flesh. I look forward to seeing the photos!

We've had a lot of holidays in the UK and we've always booked a cottage or apartment and nearly always had a great time. We were supposed to be going to Lyme Regis next Friday but unfortunately we've had to cancel as Dave has sciatica and can't travel that far.

Thanks Julie. He's been pretty bad and is now waiting for an MRI scan to see if there is an underlying problem. The osteopath has been worried as when she lifted his left leg he was getting pain in the right which can be a sign that the vertebrae have moved. Thankfully that seems to have self corrected now so hopefully he's on the mend. It's not even 'normal' sciatica as, once he's stnading up, he can walk perfectly well and you wouldn't know anything was wrong!

He's had a rough time since May - he had a chest infection when we were in Florida, DVT from the flight when we got back, then he put his back out and now sciatica!

We'll both be glad to see the back of this year!

I feel his pain skippy .... Having had my MRI results today for my five lipped discs i am now heading back to hospital for sedation and a coupe of injections to relieve the pain and pressure ...

Julie ... Your pics on facebook were lovely .. That cottage was beautiful. We hire a cottage in Padstow most years with friends ... Its lovely to be near the harbour and away from home !
