Hi everyone

I have been taking quite a keen interest in the Home Information Packs and was delighted to hear and read that the idea has been put back by 2 months. What I find ironic, is that these packs have been in the pipeline for a decade now, the Government have only been able to recruit 520 inspectors out of the minimum 2,000 they require! Just how long do they need??

Another interesting point is that these HIPs will only (at the moment) apply to 4 bedroomed homes. After the recruitment of more accredited inspectors, these HIP's will then include smaller homes. I find it unbelievable that those who have larger homes are the ones who are to be penalised initially. Why can these HIP's not be brought into place once the accredited inspectors are all in place then everyone will be treated in the same manner, irrespective of the size of their home.

What is more, what of those presently in an IVA who are home owners? The majority have a clause which calls for equity release be it through remortgaging or the sale of the property. Should the person in the IVA choose to rather sell the property and downsize, where does the government suggest the cost of the HIP, which is between £400 and £700, will come from?

I am sure their are others out there who feel the same as I do - I have no surplus income in my IVA to fund this pack.

So it will in all probability end with everyone in an IVA choosing to rather remortgage than sell and get into even more debt!!!

Sue
