thanks so much I do feel releaved. I keep looking at the chairmens report and thinking about all those who accepted. I owed 94000. I hope this gives others the confidence to deal with their debts and not hide like I have done for so long. This forum is the best thing I could have done and as helped me so much I cant say thanks enough. I am here for everyone else now, Rich xx

Hi Rich. Just taken me ages to read through all these posts lol.

Massive congratulations to you on getting your IVA accepted. I can already tell you are going to be a great asset to this community. [:D]

As for them getting you to cancel the life insurance that is incredibly perverse as personally if you have dependants then it should (common sense dictates) be a neccesity.

My life insurance is accepted as part of my IVA and I have no dependents, it is just there to make sure my debts are paid off, all other costs taken care of and my family can have a great big P**S up at my expense lol.

Well done and here's hoping you have a smooth 5 years until that final payment. (I've got a bottle of Champagne stashed to celebrate my final payment lol)

Lukeofyorkshire, thanks so much. Thanks for your comments. I did not want to say no to the modifications as I just wanted everything to go through. I know its probably a good idea to think about these things, but I know that I can cut back on my household expenditure so I will be keeping the life insurance going. Mums coming over soon to take me out to lunch, her treat... I have nothing in my wallet no cards, no money but it feels good.

You will be an expert at saving money, especially to pay for things like insurance and I agree you should make sure it is kept going.

That is awfully nice of your Mum (Mum's are great!) It is mad how you feel so good even though you are skint isn't it. I'm the same, you know you are broke but that with each payment made you are one step closer to being debt free!

Congratulations from me Rich. Pity about the life insurance and hopefully this does not spoil things too much.

Congratulations from myself too. Pity about the life insurance and hope that you are able to fund this from other areas, I personally don't have life insurance (apart from through work) and would like some but guess this will have to wait until post IVA.

Emotions do run high pre and post IVA but once you get into the payment mode hopefully things will settle and you'll find relief.

Keep posting with us for support/advice and maybe start a blog. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Hi All,

hope you all well and doing ok. Just made my second payment to my IVA. Was just sitting here thinking about things. My Dad died in November of last year, he had prostate cancer. Before my IVA I was trying to keep up my min payments on my credit cards, the only way of doing that as I had run out of available credit on my cards was to sell some of the jewellery that he had given me, his wedding ring and a bracelet. I only wish that I had entered an IVA before doing this, then I would still have them. People delay going into an IVA because they are scared of what will happen, If any one reads this deal with your debt straight away and dont pay what you cant afford Rich xxx
