Is there anything I can do, as a result of my IVA my bank has canceled my debit card and my check book. The school will only take payment for things by check and we need the card to do our shopping and pay other bills what do I do?

What bank are you with ? - it sounds as if you bank has downgraded your account - You should be still able to use your new debit card for shopping
You need you speak directly with you bank - to find out exactly whats happened and when they are planning to dispatch your new card.

I assume your bank are not creditors in your IVA

Co-Op Cashminder comes with a debit card ... but make sure you apply for CASHMINDER -- other accounts will be refused.

My school always ask for cheques -- so far I have just given them cash with no comment :-)
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

You could try the Co-op cash-minder account - however it can take a few weeks to set this up
At the same time its worth look at the Cash Transactor account with Yorkshire Building Society - it comes with a cash card - but allows DDs and S/Os to be paid from the account.
There are a few paid accounts which offer most banking services - again it may be worth looking into that.
Its however unlikely that you get an account with full services - including cheque book with an IVA on file

How primitive for schools to only accept cheque payments. Cheques will be things of the past over the next decade, and I would not have thought they would want their admin staff constantly running to the bank to bank them!
